Before you put the mower away, don’t cut your grass too short. 🍂

For the final cut, we typically leave it around 4 inches to help the lawn handle winter and come back strong in spring.

In Michigan, the last cut is often around mid-to-late October, depending on the weather and your lawn.

Dethatching vs. Aeration — what’s the difference?

Stressed by the bare spots in your lawn? 😩

Bare spots this time of year usually aren't a mystery once you know what to look for — heat stress, foot traffic, compacted soil, or thatch buildup blocking water and nutrients from ever reaching the roots.

The good news is this is actually the best window to fix them. Aeration relieves that compaction, dethatching clears the dead layer sitting on top, and overseeding fills in the thin or bare patches while the soil is still warm enough for good germination and the air is cool enough to reduce stress on new grass. 🌱

Yes, it's back-to-school season and everyone's calendar is packed, but this window doesn't wait for schedules to clear up.
