Another large rotor ready for testing at Bradley’s Inc.!

This 3,500 HP Siemens rotor, weighing approximately 6,000 pounds, will be tested using our Surface Rotor Magnetic Field Analysis machine. This advanced equipment allows our technicians to evaluate the rotor’s magnetic field and identify potential defects, such as broken rotor bars or other irregularities that could affect motor performance.

At Bradley’s, we combine advanced testing technology with skilled craftsmanship to ensure every repair meets the highest standards of quality and reliability.

This is a Surface Rotor Magnetic Field Analysis (sRMFA) machine used to test induction-motor rotors for defects.

The machine induces electrical current directly into the rotor bars and end rings. Sensors then measure and map the magnetic field produced by each rotor bar. Specialized software analyzes the readings to locate problems such as:

* Partially or completely broken rotor bars
* Cracked or deteriorating connections
* Insufficient welds or solder joints
* Casting flaws in die-cast rotors
* Developing defects that can be monitored over time

The rotor can be tested while removed from the motor, so a functional stator or fully assembled motor is not required. The results provide a detailed, repeatable record that helps technicians determine the rotor’s condition before completing the repair. Bradley’s Rotor Bar Testing

Machine information shown:

* Model: MK2
* Version: 1.0
* Manufactured: May 2020
* Dimensions: 53 inches deep × 113 inches long × 76 inches high
* Max weight: Approximately 10,000 pounds
* Safety equipment: Laser safety sensors with an additional three-foot safety area.
