James Doyle Design Associates Designing living landscapes for how life actually unfolds. Based in Greenwich, CT. We are as inspired by the future as we have been by the past.

JDDA has a clear vision – to create beautiful and innovative landscapes that deliver world
class designs whilst enriching the lives of the people who use these outdoor spaces. As we move forward, we strive
to create beautiful and sustainable solutions which blend a unique sense of place with a
thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of landscape architecture today. We are always inspired by the land we work on, care about how our clients want to live, and
what really matters to them. We believe that full collaboration with our clients and all affiliated
professionals is fundamental to the success of our projects. We are passionate about design and we are known for our consistent, innovative and
sustainable designs and our unwavering attention to detail in crafting. We are innovators with
a sensitivity to our changing world. Our work reflects the intersection of nature and art; the juxtaposition of the designed and the
natural; with bold, contemporary, dynamic gestures in the form of structural plant material,
innovative hardscaping and an infusion of landscape art. We care about the world we live in and our landscapes have the power to become our
sanctuaries, to be uplifting, relaxing and thought provoking, with an appreciation for nature.

CONTINUITY:
Rather than compete with the original legacy, we extended it into the newer parts of the garden. The goal was for the landscape to feel more complete, not more newly designed.

Edging without being edgy.

A crisp lawn edge gives the meadow room to be loose without letting the garden feel unkempt.

RECLAIMING THE VIEW:
A vehicle-dominated service court once occupied the property’s prime vantage point.

By removing the drive court, opening one bay of the carriage house, and aligning the new pool beyond it, the landscape now carries the view through the building and out toward Long Island Sound.

The carriage house transformed into a threshold rather than a parking lot.
