when an off-the-shelf product isn't available, sometimes you have to get creative, other times you have to go full chemist. Today's project is matching quarter round on stained cabinets that was damaged by a tenants dogs.

The color is very dark brown with the slightest hint of red. The folks at hooked me up with this gel stain made by . I'm going to start with just Java (12 CC) as a control color, then I'm going mix in one cc of Georgian cherry at a time up to a 50/50 mixture.

Tracing a circuit in pvc conduit back to the sub panel burried under a flagstone walkway. Two electricians speculated how the circuit was run, but neither had the right toys to actually figure out exactly how and where it was run. I was also able to figure out exactly what around the yard was on this circuit. I feel like this tool is essential for electricians and it's pretty handy for builders or just a handyman as well, though it's kind of pricey. Thanks for making such a powerful tool!

Found this awesome vintage Westinghouse sub panel on an industrial job. I believe it's original to the building meaning it's mid 1920s. The original wires look pretty cleanly installed.

, you have a grandfather/great grandfather that did work on the east coast?

It's really cool seeing how things have changed over the last hundred years.

We encountered a really bad sag on a remodel were doing (3 inches over a 18 foot span.) The bean has a ton of weight flooring joists coming in to it from two different sides, the old exterior wall of the structure, the bottom end of a section of rafters, and the top end of another section of rafters. We told the customer that it posed a safety risk, they had a second Builder give them an opinion, and his matched ours. We had our engineer Bill run the numbers (3 ply 18 inch deep LVL padded out with doubled and stacked 2x10s and doubled ⅜ plywood). Everything thing is jacked up now and, temp walls are up, time to cut out the old beam!

Working in a 1960s home on a bathroom remodel with . The original bathroom had 2 different floor heights to accommodate the plumbing, and was 1 ½ inches out of level over ten feet on top of that. Set up the 360° laser from and shim the framing up to 21¼, fast, easy and accurate. Now we have a dead flat and LEVEL substrate for the tile!
