🌷Hey, everyone! I hope you and yours have been safe and well amidst the pandemic and quarantine 😷 My family and I have been using our down time to work on home and garden projects, especially since we’ve been blessed with an actual season of spring weather this year (versus the usual 4 or 5 weeks!) I’ll share what we’ve been up to soon, but today I wanted to say Happy Mother’s Day to all of the sweet Mommas out there 💐 I hope your Mother’s Day was special and full of love! 💗 And thank you to my precious family for the awesome garden gifts 👩🏻‍🌾 You all are da best!!!

🍃First purchase from Thelittlejungle at Etsy🌿
Friends, I’m at the point in my houseplant collecting where most of the plants on my wish list just aren’t available in my area. So, I decided to go out on a limb and buy some plants on Etsy (first Etsy purchase ever, btw). This group of beautiful plants is from Rachael and her team at Thelittlejungle shop, in Jensen Beach, FL. Each plant was oh-so-carefully wrapped in 3 to 4 layers of paper, and then they were lovingly placed and taped into a large box. I was worried that these babies might get damaged from the unusually cold weather we’re experiencing, but the multiple layers of paper kept everything safe, warm, and in place. These plants are beautiful! All appear to be healthy, and they are larger than I expected. Customer service was superb, and shipping was free 🎉 Here’s an i.d.list of my new plant babies .... can you guess which is my favorite?
1: Philodendron bipennifolium (aka horse head philodendron); 2: peperomia tetragona (aka puteolata); 3: dischidia oiantha (Geri); 4: episcia cupreata (aka flame violets); 5: Hoya pubicalyx splash (second from left:)

🧚‍♀️The story behind my first Etsy plant haul🍃 Back in October, I asked my hubby to do a “No spend November” challenge with me. I explained that I wouldn’t buy any plants, and he wouldn’t buy any hunting stuffs. Y’all, he didn’t even give it a thought! He just replied, “No. I’m *not doin’ that. So just go ahead and buy whatever plants you want”...... 🧐 Hmmmmmm. Let me ponder this for a sec. Should I just do what he says? Because, ‘ya know, he failed to give me a budget, and who knows when that’ll happen again! Or do I stick to the challenge to prove a point (in other words, do I want to be miserable throughout the month of November from plant-buying withdrawals, which will only get worse as I watch him buy cool hunting stuffs week after week?)🤷🏻‍♀️ Soooo, I did what any smart, plant-lovin’ wife would do. I purchased plants online on October 31, knowing they would arrive in November, yet NOT count as a purchase that was made in November! 🌿 Oh yeah, almost forgot. I also filled out a gift message that was signed “The Garden Fairy 🧚‍♀️
This first Etsy plant haul is from Thelittlejungle. I’ll post an identification list and shop review in a separate post 🌱

🍂Happy Monday, everyone! It’s cold and gloomy out, so I’m glad I cut these cheerful blooms a few days ago. I think the yellow cosmos and pink knockouts look beautiful with the petite purslane blooms 💕 I hope you all have a great week! I plan on doing some Christmas shopping and making a list of seeds for my spring garden..... what’s on your to-do list this week? 🍂

🍂Autumn blooms 🌸 I’m enjoying a small flush of blooms from my Encore azaleas, Knockout roses, and Suntory container roses this week. Each shrub only has a few blooms, but they’re beautiful (and I’m lucky to have them - after the super hot, dry summer, I wasn’t sure I’d get any blooms this autumn!) The hydrangeas are not repeat-bloomers, so I left the flowers to dry naturally on the stems. I’ll cut them later for a floral arrangement, along with some dried zinnias 🌸 What’s your favorite flower for dried floral arrangements? 🌿

🌱Peperomia water propagation🌱
Water propagation is easy and fun, and I find it satisfying to watch a cutting send out roots and new growth! All you have to do is take a 3 to 4 inch cutting (make sure you cut below a leaf node), carefully remove the bottom one or two leaves, and stick the cutting in a glass of water. Place the glass in a warm spot that gets bright, indirect light, and you’re done! Other than topping off the water once a week (make sure the growth nodes at the bottom of the stem are always submerged) and occasionally changing out the water, that’s all there is to it! Scroll to the after pics to check out the beautiful roots on these peperomia clusifolia cuttings that I started 6 weeks ago 😍 and let me know if you have a favorite plant for water propagation 🌿
