97 degrees on Labor Day weekend means one thing: you find the water and stay there.

We partnered on the masonry for this pool back in the day, laying the travertine coping, setting the tile, and wrapping the spa in brick veneer. A pool cools you off, but solid stonework gives the whole yard a reason to gather. It is always a privilege to see a concept turn into reality and build a space where life happens.

Have a fun and safe holiday weekend with your family.

How are you escaping the heat this weekend—the pool, the lake, or hiding inside with the AC?

We kept going past the covered patio, out to the pool. The stone wall wraps the whole enclosure and holds the grade. The iron gates are custom, built to match the weight of the stone. Same idea as the rest of the project: every piece set to work together and stay that way. Up on the course here in the Upstate.

A kitchen is the center of gravity for a home. It dictates how the morning starts and how an evening unfolds.

When laying out this space, we designed it around the massive central island to ensure whoever is cooking is never cut off from the rest of the house. By integrating heavy-duty appliances into the custom cabinetry and leaving the sightlines open to the two-story family room, every element is intentional and connected. It is a seamless blend of beauty and function, built to handle daily life just as effortlessly as a crowded weekend gathering. It is always a privilege to see a concept turn into reality.

If you were redesigning your kitchen, what is the one detail you would build your layout around?

For this Greer renovation, we focused on tying the new outdoor kitchen, stonework, and decking seamlessly into the existing covered patio. Every element is intentional and connected, creating a space where life happens naturally.

250 years. There is no better place to celebrate a milestone like this than in the backyard with the people who matter most. Fire up the grill, enjoy the long weekend, and have a safe and happy Independence Day from the team at BKF Builders.

A well-designed outdoor space doesn't shut down when the sun sets. It just changes modes. With the lighting integrated across the pool, the fire pit, and the timber pavilion, this footprint is engineered specifically for long summer nights.

Imagine hosting the 4th of July out here. The design gives a large crowd plenty of room to spread out, while keeping the entire property connected and cohesive.

A home feels different when the backyard actually invites you to stay a while.

We love how the heavy masonry anchors this entire outdoor space. The stone arches and upper deck give the property a natural, effortless flow. Every element is intentional and connected. It is always a privilege to see a concept turn into reality and leave behind a space where life happens.

A cohesive outdoor build requires more than just pouring a patio and adding a grill. It requires a deliberate footprint. For this project, we integrated a heavy timber roofline with a custom stacked-stone fireplace and a fully equipped outdoor kitchen. The result is a permanent extension of the home, engineered for flow and built for the long haul.
