A cohesive outdoor build requires more than just pouring a patio and adding a grill. It requires a deliberate footprint. For this project, we integrated a heavy timber roofline with a custom stacked-stone fireplace and a fully equipped outdoor kitchen. The result is a permanent extension of the home, engineered for flow and built for the long haul.

The sound of moving water completely changes the baseline of a backyard. For this build, we anchored the environment with a central fountain and built the sightlines outward to a custom octagonal pavilion. Complete with integrated masonry and a full outdoor kitchen, the structure is engineered to be a permanent extension of the home. Quiet, cohesive, and built for the long haul.

The Upstate doesn't always give you a spring like this one. When it does, the evenings are cool, the mornings are quiet, and a fire feels exactly right.

A build like this is engineered for that. The brick, the seating walls, the lanterns, the fireplace anchoring the whole space — none of it is decorative. It's designed to pull you outside and keep you there. Full table, good company, nowhere else to be.

Found this in the archives from a few years ago. We spend all our time engineering outdoor spaces, so we decided to permanently install one inside the BKF office.

The scope of our builds has evolved since then, but this is still the exact view we want when we're stuck behind a desk.
