Employee spotlight: Meet Alex Williams!

Alex, the creative force leading our Residential Landscape Design team.
Having grown up in the Upstate, he brings a deep understanding of the local plant palette paired with a sharp eye for design that shows in every project.
If you made it to the Festival of Trees this past Christmas, you’ve already experienced his work, Alex was the lead designer behind it. And if you caught our Sync for Survivors 2025 you may have seen him, take the stage in a whole new way.
Around the office, Alex brings fun unpredictable energy. You never quite know what he’ll do next and that’s exactly why we love having him on our team. Equal parts creative and hilarious, he keeps things fresh and inspiring every day.
What attracted you to Arbor?
" I grew up hearing about Arbor as a premier Landscape Architecture firm in the Greenville area, and their role in the development of Falls Park. I love the upstate and see my work at Arbor as contributing to the history that Arbor has as a trusted and go to firm."
What is your go to comfort food?
" I will demolish a bag of peanut M&M's if left alone."
If you were a vegetable, which one would you be and why?
"My two cattle dogs Pepper and Tulip love carrots, so probably a carrot as long as they don't eat me!"

April is World Landscape Architecture Month, and this week’s theme is Learning.
At the Healing Garden in Cancer Survivors Park, the landscape itself becomes a learning experience. The garden is composed entirely of plant species native to the Upstate of South Carolina, many of which have long histories of use for their healing properties.
From traditional remedies to modern understanding, these plants tell a story rooted in both ecology and culture.
New interpretive signage currently in production will further enhance this experience, helping visitors connect with the plants and better understand their historical and medicinal significance.
This space is not only designed for reflection and restoration, but also to inform and inspire, demonstrating how thoughtful landscape architecture can serve as a living classroom.

Cancer Survivors Park, one of Greenville’s most meaningful public spaces, was recently featured in the March edition of Landscape Architect.
The project was designed to support healing and quiet reflection, and we’re honored to have contributed to its realization.
