Help! I'm going to need some assistance on this one from all the professional/amateur lepidopterists out there. Multiple ID books, a reverse Google search, and a few hours later... I'm still unsure on which butterfly this is. It's a frequent visitor this week to the ripe viburnum berries in my garden. Candidates include:
1. Red-spotted purple (Limenitis arthemis)
2. Spicebush swallowtail (Papilio troilus)
3. Pipevine swallowtail (Battus philenor)

Give us your opinion in the comments. And thanks in advance!

Abundant blooms πŸ’
Viburnum is one of those plants that is breathtakingly beautiful from every angle. All my friends know that I prefer close-up images like this one. It gives the effect of being up close and personal with nature while featuring details you might otherwise miss. It is a big shrub, well suited for large gardens where it can be enjoyed from a distance. Personally, I like to train my viburnum into small multi-trunk trees so that I can still use all the space underneath!
Do you plant viburnum at your home? I would love to see your photos! ✨

So hot and humid here in northern Texas. Thank goodness for a drip system to water all these plants while I sleep!!!There is no sidewalk on my side of the street. So I ordered all the stone and flagstone and Jeremy designed and built this landing for guests getting out of their cars. Solved the problem of guests walking on plants when getting out of their cars plus the walkway is so pretty to me.
Enjoy your day!

It was believed that, planted at the entrance, it protects against sorrows and the evil eye, and also brings prosperity to the home. In addition, this tree is considered a symbol of love and a shield for family happiness. In the old days, not a single wedding was complete without a bouquet of viburnum; festive tables were also decorated with berries.

Viburnum has a characteristic bitter taste and aroma, which disappears after freezing. Due to the high pectin content, the fruits are used to make marmalade. In addition, viburnum juice makes excellent vinegar. In autumn, the green fruits ripen and turn red, hence the name viburnum.
