🌪️⛈️ HURRICANE & SEVERE WEATHER POOL PREPARATION! ⛈️🌪️
💙 A FRIENDLY REMINDER FROM DIAZ POOL SERVICES & SUPPLIES! 💙
With the possibility of hurricanes, heavy rainfall, strong winds, and power outages affecting our area over the next several days, we want to help our customers prepare and protect their swimming pools and equipment!
Here are some important steps you can take BEFORE severe weather arrives:
🔌 1. TURN OFF YOUR POOL EQUIPMENT
If flooding or power outages are anticipated, shut off your pool pump, heater, and other electrical equipment at the breaker before conditions become dangerous. Never touch electrical equipment or breakers while standing in water!
🪑 2. SECURE POOL FURNITURE & ACCESSORIES
Bring in or securely store lounge chairs, umbrellas, floats, toys, cleaning poles, and anything else that could become airborne in strong winds. Never place furniture in your pool to keep it from blowing away!
💦 3. DO NOT DRAIN YOUR POOL!
Your pool needs the weight of the water to help keep it in place. Draining your pool before a storm can cause serious structural damage, especially when the ground becomes saturated. Keep your pool at its normal operating level unless a qualified pool professional advises otherwise.
🧪 4. CHECK YOUR POOL WATER
Before the storm, make sure your water is properly balanced and sanitized. Heavy rainfall and debris can affect your pool’s chemistry. Avoid adding unnecessary chemicals or over-shocking your pool.
🍂 5. REMOVE LOOSE DEBRIS
Skim leaves, remove loose branches, and empty your skimmer and pump baskets while conditions are safe. This can help prevent unnecessary clogs when the storm passes.
🏊 6. SECURE YOUR POOL COVER
If you have a properly fitted, storm-rated cover, follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Do not install a regular pool cover just for a hurricane, as it may become damaged or create additional hazards.
⚡ 7. WAIT UNTIL CONDITIONS ARE SAFE TO RESTART EQUIPMENT
After the storm, inspect your pool and equipment for damage. If your pump, motor, or electrical components were submerged, DO NOT turn them back on until they have been inspected by a qualified professional.
🚨 8. SAFETY ALWAYS COMES FIRST!
Stay away from your pool during thunderstorms, high winds, and flooding. Never enter a pool if there may be electrical damage, fallen power lines, or storm debris.
