Congratulations to our Safety Champion, Javier Camas! đź‘Ź

Javier has been selected as Safety Champion of the Month at our Hiram, GA manufacturing facility.

As a forklift operator, Javier understands that safety goes far beyond moving materials. From completing pre-shift inspections and maintaining safe travel speeds to securing loads and yielding to pedestrian traffic, he consistently follows established procedures and looks out for those around him.

Javier’s attention to detail, professionalism, and commitment to doing things the right way make him a strong example of what safety leadership looks like every day.

Produced by Metromont’s Bartow, FL manufacturing facility and located in Largo, Florida, the Horizon West Bay Largo City Hall mixed-use development is a $70 million project that encompasses a new City Hall, retail space, and a five-level precast concrete parking garage. Part of the city’s efforts to revitalize downtown, the development includes 18,000 square feet of ground floor commercial space, a public plaza, and more than 300 parking spaces. The parking garage offers 6,000 square feet of retail space facing the plaza that is ideal for restaurants and microbreweries. Metromont produced nearly 127,000 square feet of precast concrete for the garage with a medium sandblast and form finish. Metromont’s VP of Engineering for Virginia, David Orndorff, participated in University of Maryland Concrete Day at the A. James Clark School of Engineering.

David joined an panel for a discussion on Careers in Concrete, moderated by Dee Dee Kennedy, Executive Director of MRMCA. The event brought together students, faculty, guests, and sponsors to learn more about the opportunities available within the concrete industry.

Shane has been selected as Safety Champion of the Month at our Greenville manufacturing facility.

A valued member of the Metromont family since 1998, Shane currently serves as Carpenter Shop Supervisor and is known for his dependability, leadership, and commitment to safety. He consistently helps maintain safe work areas, speaks up when he sees potential hazards, and supports improvements that help keep our teams safe.

Shane has also partnered with our Safety team on several improvement projects, including strengthening saw guarding and increasing hazard awareness throughout the production area.

Project Spotlight: University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee Campus “Atala Hall” Student Center Residential Hall🏗️
The new Atala Hall project is a six-story, 100,000-SF total precast residential hall and 32,000-SF student center constructed for the University of South Florida on its Sarasota-Manatee campus. The residential hall features 100 units, accommodating up to 200 students. Metromont’s Bartow, FL manufacturing facility produced 97,604 SF of precast concrete to complete the residential hall, two-story dining area, and one-story conference room Metromont’s total precast concrete system of double tees roof and flooring system was used on the project, and was selected because it increases the owner’s asset value and reduces energy bills and maintenance costs during the life of the structure.
