we’ve been really excited to share this one!! 👀

’s showroom now features the CS Cavity Slider Pocket Door Frame Kit paired with their CS SofStop system carrying a custom 5’ x 8’ x 2 1/4” solid core slab pushing nearly 400lbs. 🏋🏽‍♂️

for reference, the soft close system is officially rated for 350lbs… complete overkill. naturally… we wanted to push the real world limits and it took a monstrous door slab to do so. 😅

we’ll be happy to report back as time passes. the soft close engages beautifully in both directions and the operation feels like it’s meant be this way.

huge thanks to john for the opportunity to install these in his showroom. the typical miniature version is awesome however it lacks the ability to truly show what the soft close and open feels like. being able to go in person makes all the difference for homeowners, designers, and builders trying to understand what the hype is all about. 💙

major credits to tim at for the expert install work. 🤌🏽

when it comes to these systems… tim’s our guy. 🫶🏽
we’ve picked up a few tricks along the way together that may or may not stay off the internet for now. ☺️

john’s planning to have several hardware configurations on the door so people can come experience the differences in person. it’s invaluable to be able to try the hardware on your pocket door in person. most are mortised in (or “cut” in) so you don’t want to get it wrong otherwise it could be a costly change.

yes… you heard correctly.

roughly 2,600 beach balls worth of air move in & out of EACH room in your home… not once, not twice, but usually closer to 5+ times PER HOUR. 🤯😭

when i hear it framed in a tangible way, i hope it starts to click why we care so much about proper building assemblies. 🤓

you don’t know what you don’t know….

i personally feel a sense of duty to tell the world they should be asking their builders for a score.

side note: it’s much easier to achieve this in new construction than an existing home however it’s still very possible to create a night-and-day difference… even in historic homes. 💙

sharing one of my greatest secrets to my success…

it starts before you walk out the door.

parks decorative hardware is the triad’s only wholesaler. 🥲

that’s just scratching the surface of what they offer though… they are locally owned & operated. when you walk in you’ll find john or his wife eager to get to know you.

john is one of those rare people in this industry that genuinely loves to teach and share what he knows. 🫶🏽

and in an industry where knowledge & experience are one of the top forms of currency… it’s truly refreshing to meet someone willing to share freely.

a lot of products today are heavily marketed… but not always thought through.

john has spent years tinkering, researching, testing, and learning where products originate, which brands share components, which companies spun off from others, and which products are actually built with the end user in mind.

and best of all, he knows which brands actually warranty their products and stand behind them. that to us is everything.

because of that… parks carries a ton of unique brands and specialty products you just don’t typically see or hear about.

as builders constantly chasing better systems and more thoughtful custom details, having someone like john in our corner is literally invaluable.

if you’ve never been by the shop, please check it out!!

please let us know what you think about the display while you’re there 👀

shoutout for having the best splinter removal tool on site.

and i found our friends on the cover of in the wild () 💙

if you haven’t had a chance to read the latest issue covering our friends’ new investment of adding more than 20,000sf to better serve our area… i’d encourage you to. i’ll always applaud 2 brothers working alongside each other, building off their father’s legacy. 🥲

my favorite fun fact is that the new addition is creating more opportunities for people, not removing them through automation… a rarity in this industry.

i’m coming by soon, fellas. i wanna see this closed-loop recycled water system in person 🫶🏽

one of the hardest parts when starting your home building journey is realizing not all builders are building the same thing.💙

when it comes to new home construction… generally speaking:
there are “production” builders
there are “semi-custom” builders
and there are “custom” builders.

one of the most important questions you can ask yourself early on is:

“are we looking for a semi-custom home or a fully custom home?”

there’s no “right” or “wrong” answer here—neither approach is better than the other. these are 2 completely different kinds of builds.

i blame ourselves as builders for the confusion… it doesn’t help that some of us unintentionally sound like something we’re not.

words matter.

understanding this distinction early on will save homeowners a tremendous amount of frustration, confusion, and mismatched expectations.

clearly defining yourself as a builder helps tremendously by filtering out and spending less time with leads that are not your client.

i like food… think of it this way:

production = choose from the menu
semi-custom = customize the menu
fully custom = create the recipe from scratch

carp with 😎

there’s something special about trusting someone enough to leave a permanent mark on your life—every tattoo i have came from zach. i still remember walking into his shop () and telling him i had waited over 10 years to get my first tattoo—always wanted one since HS. 🫶🏽

i wanted timeless pieces that reflected my latino culture, my family history, and the things that shaped me into who i am but was having a hard time translating that to art.

for the first year, i hid my tattoos at nearly every client meeting because i was worried how people might perceive me. i thought showing them would somehow make me look less professional, less trustworthy, or less capable.

over time i realized something important… no matter how i dress, speak, or present myself, people are always going to make assumptions based on appearance. that fear was something i had to work through within myself… tattoos weren’t going to make a difference.

not to say you shouldn’t carry yourself well or be presentable—of course you should… but also know it’s okay to be yourself.

people will judge you. some people will question why you’d put permanent markings on your body. the truth is, we don’t owe anyone an explanation beyond: i wanted them… and i’m still the same person i’ve always been.

who knew id become good friends with the artist who’s art lives on me. 🥲 if you are too busy judging a book by its cover it’s hard to get to know the heart behind it.
