BEFORE THE BUILD, THE PLAN HAS TO WORK.

We’re currently pricing a 16×21 elevated deck with 42-inch rails and 42-inch stairs.

This is still in the estimate and planning stage—materials have not been ordered and a start date has not been scheduled.

A responsible deck quote has to account for more than square footage:

• Joist, beam and post layout

• Attachment and load path

• Stair rise, run and landing

• Guard height and railing layout

• Wood versus composite

• Demolition, access and staging

• Material availability and lead time

Getting those decisions right now prevents expensive surprises once construction begins.

Freshwater diving gives us reps that matter—entries, equipment checks, buoyancy, task loading and learning what actually works when visibility and conditions aren’t perfect.

WHEN THE SITE CHANGES, THE PLAN HAS TO CHANGE.

During demolition on this aviation concrete project, fuel contamination was discovered beneath the existing slab.

Work paused while environmental remediation was completed by others. Once the site was cleared, the original schedule and rebuild plan had to be reworked around remobilization, grading, compaction and the concrete replacement.

The visible construction is only part of the job. The rest is managing safety, changing conditions and keeping a complicated project moving forward.

Not every dive is about shipwrecks and spearfishing. 🤿

Sometimes the job takes you 15 feet underwater and into a stormwater drainage system.

Last week, GW Marine completed an underwater valve inspection at Carolina Lakes to investigate a possible closure issue.

We inspected the exterior, operated the valve, and documented an approximately ½–1-inch gap along the bottom while the valve was in the closed position.

No visible obstruction was identified during the inspection.

This is the side of commercial diving most people never see.

From underwater infrastructure inspections to dock systems, recovery, and maintenance, we’re building GW Marine around getting work done beneath the surface.
