When we bought our house in 2022, it came with a small, struggling Meyer lemon planted in the back yard. Although Meyer lemons are not hardy in my zone 8 climate, we resolved to do what we could to protect it as needed.

Each winter we place a 55-gallon barrel of water next to the tree with an aquarium heater, and wrap with frost cloth as needed.

I think we have succeeded!
