We had some hail move through the area.
From what we’re seeing so far, most of it was on the smaller side.
And here’s the honest truth:
Small hail doesn’t automatically mean you need a new roof.
Insurance companies have tightened the reins the last few years. They’re not just looking for bruised shingles anymore. They want to see clear damage to the fiber mat beneath the shingle.
If that mat isn’t fractured, many carriers won’t consider it a covered loss.
That’s important.
Because early in the year especially, there are contractors who knock doors and push claims hard.
They’ll circle granule loss, call it hail, and try to force a roof into a claim that may not actually warrant one.
Not every roof should be turned into an insurance claim.
What does make sense is a thorough inspection by someone who understands what adjusters are trained to look for:
• Mat fractures
• Consistent impact patterns
• Soft spots and true bruising
• Collateral indicators (gutters, downspouts, soft metals, window screens, etc.)
At Watchman Roofing, we offer no-cost, honest inspections. If you have damage that warrants a claim, we’ll show you clearly and walk you through it. If you don’t, we’ll tell you that too.
We’ve used the same proven inspection and documentation system for over 5 years. It protects homeowners, keeps claims clean, and builds long-term trust.
If your home was in the storm path and you’d like peace of mind, reach out. No pressure. Just a clear report moving forward.
