The role of a security officer is not only to monitor property to guard against theft and vandalism, but losses of all kinds. On 5/18/24, at 3:04AM, one of the K9 Security Partners officers found a serious issue at a patrol stop. Behind a privacy fence, where nobody could see, the officer found signs of a water main break! The 6” line was capable of flowing a MINIMUM 800 gallons per minute, was leaking in at least one spot, underground, where it had finally broken through the surface. The water company was contacted, and the valve was located out in the street, around the corner, which shut off this line.

This leak could have continued all weekend , through Monday morning! By utilizing our overnight patrols, the early detection saved over 48hrs worth of water at 800 gallons per minute!!!!! (Not to mention the erosion damage from the pressurized leak).

The police K9 is not a piece of equipment to turn in when you leave. Part of what makes this animal valuable in his work is the trust and bond with THIS officer. No matter the level of training, the dog will not be able to work predictably and reliably with another handler. Behavior issues will manifest and become irreversible, ultimately resulting in the dog being euthanized because it’s a liability.
