Yesterday, our neighbors and friends at Kenneth G. Myers Construction suffered a heartbreaking loss. They lost not only a coworker, but a friend, someone who left for work expecting to return home to their family, just like every one of us does.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Myers Construction family and the loved ones of the fallen worker during this incredibly difficult time.
This tragedy is a painful reminder that work zones are not just places where roads are being built, they're workplaces filled with fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, and friends.
Our crews spend countless hours working alongside live traffic in the heat, the rain, the cold, and the dark. They accept the challenges of the job, but they should never have to accept the risk of someone driving carelessly through a work zone.
Every time you see orange barrels, flashing lights, or workers on the side of the road:
🦺 Slow down.
📵 Put your phone away.
🚧 Stay alert.
❤️ Remember that someone's life depends on the decisions you make behind the wheel.
No meeting, text message, or destination is worth a life.
Let's honor the memory of this worker by making a commitment to do better. Slow down. Pay attention. Help ensure that every highway worker, laborer, operator, and construction professional has the opportunity to return home safely to the people who love them.
