New build- a night stand in the nick of time for baby Kramer #3. I’ve made a night stand and matching bookshelf for all my kids. I must admit I was unable to complete the matching bookshelf this time but I blame the baby’s older brothers for my lack of free time. So stay tuned for that build…in 10 years when I have free time again.
This table was built using red oak lumber from my grandpa’s wood shed. He passed away a few years ago and I was fortunate enough to inherit many of his tools and lumber. He’s not around to see my kids grow up but it’s nice knowing he still is able to have an influence on them.
I used a hardwax oil on this build, which I use often. It gives it a very matte finish. It’s easy an quick to apply. One coat. This version in particular has a grayish tint to it, sort of like a stain, to give it a weathered appearance. My wife said it’s the best one of the three and we may need to have another baby so I build another table. This will be the last night stand.
