While this is meant to be funny, I have seen things almost as bad out there. It still surprises me they willingness for homeowners to hire a handyman or promote the 1st year apprentice on Facebook because he's cheap.

We found this recently in a home we serviced. Please don't ever do this. Call us, we will be glad to help solve issues the safe and code compliant way!

Using Romex (NM-B cable) as an extension cord is highly hazardous and violates electrical code. Unlike flexible extension cords, Romex uses solid copper wires that are designed to be permanently installed inside walls. Repeatedly bending and rolling it will cause the wire to break, creating a serious fire and shock risk.

Code Violations: The National Electrical Code (NEC) specifically prohibits using permanent branch-circuit wiring (like Romex) as a substitute for flexible extension cords. Using non-compliant setups can void home insurance policies in the event of an electrical failure.

Customer was missing half his power, this is what we found.
This is why its important to not just hire a licensed electrician but an electrician who has the reviews to back up his company's quality of work.This should have been installed in conduit the whole way or the very least had a bushing at the base.

This should have never happened, you will never see a job that Ohmega started where the wire is not completely in conduit from meter to the house.
Quality work that's right the first time, that is our standard!
