This week's comes from the Leadville Mine Drainage Tunnel Water Treatment Plant project in Leadville, Colorado, where our crews are working hard to build a brand new water treatment facility right next to the existing plant.

The goal is to keep the current plant running without interruption while its replacement takes shape just steps away.
Working beside a live facility takes careful planning, tight coordination and a crew that treats the existing plant as part of the job site.

It's another great example of the dedication, teamwork and problem-solving expertise our crews bring to every project, ensuring we deliver quality work while keeping critical infrastructure operating safely and efficiently.

Our American Bridge team earned a Silver Caltrans Excellence in Partnering Award for the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge Cable Investigation.

Working overnight on the West Span, the team carried out an in-depth inspection of the main cables and suspender ropes. It was the first investigation of its kind since the bridge opened in 1936. The project was delivered safely, under budget and without a single claim, which shows what open communication and true partnership can do.

Congratulations to Project Manager Wade Barie and the entire team, and thank you to our partners at Caltrans District 4 and the Bay Area Toll Authority.

This week's comes from the Nelson Road Project in Lake Charles, LA.

Crews have begun paving on the north side of the project and are making steady progress across the site. Work is underway to install two of the three dolphins and roughly 40 percent of the deck has been poured.

This comes from the new Shands Bridge on the St. Johns River in Florida. Girders are going up and the bridge is really starting to take shape!

Substructure work is progressing seamlessly. Now the Johnson Bros. Corporation and American Bridge Company JV team has moved full steam into superstructure by setting girders span by span across the river. Every girder placed brings this massive 6.5-mile FDOT centerpiece for the SR 23 Beltway one step closer to completion.

When finished, the new Shands Bridge will feature 73 total spans and a 65' vertical clearance. It will also offer future six lane expansion capability and a dedicated pedestrian Shared Use Path. Public fishing piers will be created from the repurposed ends of the old bridge.

Honoring the Diné New Year

As we enter October, we would like to recognize and honor the Diné New Year and the traditions of the Navajo people.

The beginning of this new seasonal cycle is a time of renewal, reflection, gratitude, family, community, and connection to the land. It is an opportunity to look back with gratitude, welcome the season ahead, and move forward in balance and harmony.

We are grateful for the relationships we have built with the Navajo communities we work alongside and for the opportunity to learn from and respect the rich traditions and culture of the Diné people.

We wish our Navajo teams, partners, friends, families, and communities a meaningful new year filled with peace, blessings, and Hózhó.

Behind the view, American Bridge Company is replacing the spillway gates at Wolf Creek Dam. The project includes replacing tainter gates and hoisting equipment that have been in service since the early 1950s with newly fabricated steel gates and upgraded machinery, all while keeping the dam fully operational for flood control, hydropower, navigation and recreation.
