April has come and gone and now close to the end of May ~ I want to share some special moments and events we have celebrated together in the Grapeland Garden Club. Our April speaker came and shared some fascinating stories about how he captures and releases hummingbirds here in East Texas. His license and study help keep great records on health, migration patterns. He shared the “mix ratio” on making your own hummingbird feed (Don’t buy the stuff at the store!) 🐧
We gathered together and planted a tree for Arbor Day on Friday April 24th - A Crepe Myrtle tree planted at Grapeland Baptist Church & was donated by our member Linda Weeks. 🌸 Pictured in the paper.
The Rose Garden at the Grapeland Library has been attended to and looks amazing 🌹and a kind card from the Library staff 📖
And, last but not least at all - we gathered at The Redlands Hotel in Palestine for an end of spring lunch. The service was wonderful ~ we were able to carry out our Scholarship Tradition. Claire Stewart received not one but two scholarships - 1st a $500.00 from The Grapeland Garden Club and 2nd a $1,000.00 special scholarship from our member Linda Neel and Family In Loving Memory of Elizabeth Ann Neal.
As we come to a close on May ~ our meetings will begin again in September 2026. If you would like more information and details on when we plan to meet and want to join us for a visit, please do. We would love to have you. We have several ladies in our group planning amazing classes on plants and gardening, tips and tricks! Stay tuned
