This is the second board that came out of the mulberry slab. It's really a bright and cheerful board. The fun detail in the middle is walnut and maple. Unfortunately this one is sold.

This had one of those cool experiences where there was a pleasant surprise. At my in-laws house they had an enormous mulberry tree. It was great to climb in and they even built a big tree fort in it's branches. Over time it has been hit by lightning several time and is broken up and mostly lying in pieces on the ground. I went see if any of it was salvageable. Ummm, not really. Oh well. I saw on Market Place that a guy had some small mulberry slabs for sale for a pretty good price. So I went and bought a few and brought them home. A couple of days ago I decided to see what I got. They looked like they might a non-descript milk chocolate brown. Ok, could be nice. So I milled one up and it turned out the wood was a gorgeous almost lemon yellow. So this is one of 2 boards that came out of that slab. The yellow stripe is brighter than the picture. The main wood in sapele/mahogany and is redder than the picture. It has a top and bottom "rail" of African padauk. the chevron in the middle has walnut, cherry, sapele, poplar, maple and ash. 12"x19".

Here is my first attempt at an inlay pattern. The dots at the end of the lines are actually pretty bright colors. The main wood is sapelle/ mahogany. It's much redder than the picture shows with some beautiful grain patterns. The stripes are maple and walnut.. 12"x 18" and has a juice groove.

Another "pattern" board. Not really my style, but fun none the less. about 12"x18"' a nice utility size, only about 3/4"...

Another "pattern" board. Not really my style, but fun none the less. about 12"x18"' a nice utility size, only about 3/4" thick, light weight and mostly end grain, so it would be great for everyday use.

It's been a couple of days since I've posted anything so here goes. This is a board that I reworked from a previous one that had some flaws that really bugged me. It's much better now. It now has a better 3d effect. It's still a pretty good size, about 15"x15".

The second one for today. 12"x18", No groove, no feet and less than an inch thick. Still a cool design and again all edge grain except for the handles on the ends. This is a good "daily driver." Light weight, not too big and still kind of cool looking. It's what I would want in my kitchen.

Two new ones for today. This is a basic 12x18. Juice groove and rubber feet. Don't stare too long, it might give you a head ache. Except for the handles on the ends, it's all edge grain. Your knives will love it
