So I’m walking by the pool and Paula’s touching up her nails when I happen to look at the bottle…

Sally Hansen XTREME WEAR. 😂

I looked at the bottle… looked at her nails… then looked back at the bottle.

I said, “Wow, honey… you’re really going all X-TREME.” 😂❤️

Then I told her, “Put that nail polish on the desk. Let’s see those hands. We’re doing a photo shoot!”

Apparently the office manager at X-TREME Carpet & Air Duct Cleaning is officially branded right down to her fingernails. 😂

But now she’s got me curious…

I started X-Treme True Stories because, apparently, I have a lot of stories.

What I DIDN’T realize was that I was eventually going to need a whole separate department. 😂

STORIES FOR MEN — Wives Tolerated, Opinions Expected. 😂

Okay, wives… be honest. 👀

How many times has your husband started telling you a story and, within the first 10 seconds, you’re already thinking:

“Oh Lord… not this damn story again.” 😂

And we men know the look.

It’s not an angry look.

It’s not really a mean look.

It’s more of an:

“I’ve heard this story 47 damn times and you’re about to tell me AGAIN?” 👀😂

And what do we do?

We finish the story.

Because apparently, in our minds, it’s still a damn good story. 😂

So I think I found the solution.

If you’re around Madison or St. Clair County, maybe us guys need to get together and SWAP STORIES.

You give me one of yours.

I’ll give you one of mine.

😂 You Seriously Can’t Make This Stuff Up…

Me and Don pulled up that day for one reason — to clean some carpet.

Somehow, within a few minutes, I was being questioned about whether I was seeing somebody’s wife. 😂

I finally told the guy:

“Look, you can call the office. My wife knows exactly where I’m supposed to be. If I was gonna have an affair with your wife, MY wife would have to schedule it!” 😂

After about 900 questions, we were finally allowed to clean the carpet.

And believe it or not… we even got a 5-star review. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

You can’t make this stuff up. Just another true X-Treme story.

And yes — if you actually need your carpets cleaned, you can call my wife. She’ll schedule me. 😂

SHE WASN’T SUPPOSED TO HEAR ME. ❤️

This happened probably 15 years ago, and I still remember it today.

I was outside a customer’s home talking to a new technician about something I’ve always believed: when we walk into someone’s home, we treat that person with the same respect we’d want someone to show our own mother or family.

What I didn’t know was that the homeowner could hear us.

When we came inside, she looked at me and told me she had heard what I said.

I remember thinking, “Wait… you heard me?” 😂

Then she thanked me.

That moment stuck with me because I wasn’t talking to a customer. I wasn’t making a sales pitch. I wasn’t trying to impress anybody.

I thought nobody was listening.

And maybe that’s the best way to explain what I’ve tried to build X-Treme around all these years.

Respect isn’t something you turn on when the customer is watching.

Integrity isn’t something you put in an advertisement.

It’s what you do when you think no one can see you.

Cameras are everywhere nowadays, but I’ve always told my guys the same thing:

Do the right thing whether there’s a camera there or not.

This is just one little story from nearly 20 years of X-Treme, but it’s one I’ve never forgotten.

😂 BUT HE’S NOT MY CARPET GUY!

Sometimes you don’t go looking for a customer…

The husband comes looking for YOU. 😂

We were cleaning carpet next door when the neighbor spotted us and came over.

“Hey, you guys clean carpet?”

Yep.

“I need you TODAY… like RIGHT NOW.” 😂

Apparently, things weren’t going too smoothly with the wife.

Only one problem…

She already had a carpet guy.

She’d already called the franchise.

Her husband looks at her and says:

“Well… he’s here right now. Wanna give him a try?”

Her response?

“Fine… but he’s NOT my carpet guy.” 😂

No pressure, right? 😂

We went in, did what we do, and let the work speak for itself.

When we were finished, she looked at the carpet…

Then looked at us…

“Yep. THAT’S MY NEW CARPET GUY.” 😂😂

Sometimes all you need is one chance. ❤️

Experience Is Earned. Trust Is Chosen.

I wasn’t born knowing how to clean carpet.

I wasn’t born knowing how to restore water damage, clean air ducts, repair carpet, or refinish floors.

I learned.

Some lessons came from great teachers. Others came from my own mistakes. And some came from watching others and learning what to do—and what not to do.

Over the years, one lesson has stood above them all:

Treat every customer the way you’d want someone to treat your own mother.

With respect.

With honesty.

With understanding.

I’m pretty straightforward. Sometimes people take that the wrong way, but I’ve always believed honesty is more important than making a sale.

If your home needs something, I’ll tell you.

If it doesn’t, I’ll tell you that too.

I’d rather lose a job than lose your trust.

That’s been the foundation of X-Treme from the very beginning, and it’s the reason so many of our customers have trusted us for years.

heard “NO” so many times… I thought it was my name.

When I first started X-Treme Carpet Cleaning, I knocked on doors, passed out flyers, and heard “No” more times than I could count.

One day, a man asked, “What’s your name?”

Without thinking, I answered… “No.” 😂

Then I laughed and said, “I’m sorry… I’m David with X-Treme Carpet Cleaning.”

Years later, I’m still here because I never let “No” stop me. Someone once told me:

“David… you’re going to make it. You don’t overpromise—you underpromise and overdeliver.”

That advice has stayed with me ever since.
