Aging in place starts with planning ahead. 🏡
Creating a safer, more accessible home doesn’t always require a major renovation. The National Council on Aging (NCOA) recently shared some simple home modifications that can make everyday life easier and help support independence as we age. (National Council on Aging)
A few of their recommendations include:
• Replacing doorknobs with lever-style handles
• Moving frequently used items to easier-to-reach shelves
• Installing pull-out cabinets
• Removing raised thresholds
• Adding a ramp or zero-step entrance
• Improving hallway and stairway lighting
• Reducing clutter
At ADL Customs, we believe accessibility is about more than making a home functional, it’s about helping people live more independently and comfortably in the spaces they love.
