Congratulations to Care Resources PACE on 20 years of serving West Michigan seniors!

Their recent anniversary celebration honored 20 milestones in 20 years, including the January 2025 opening of their Lowell center, a space AMDG was honored to design. Every detail, from the sheltered entry to the sunlit day room, was shaped to help seniors feel safe, welcome, and at home.

Here's to the next 20 years of independence, dignity, and belonging. 💙

"Staying the Course." That was the theme of the 2026 CESA Symposium in Arlington, TX, a gathering designed to strengthen mission-driven leadership in Christian schools. School leaders from across the country came together for great content that equipped them to lead with conviction, courage, and long-term perseverance.

AMDG was there to support the leaders we serve and to listen and learn right alongside them. Every school community we partner with is working hard to stay the course and hearing their challenges and hopes up close helps us design spaces that truly serve their mission. Between keynotes, breakout sessions, shared meals, and "trail breaks" in the exhibit hall, we shared a simple reminder at our table: space matters. It can amplify your mission, build your community, rethink the classroom, and make learning visible.

One highlight was an evening of gratitude with our friends from Timothy Christian Schools, Grand Rapids Christian Schools, and Wheaton Academy. Thank you for stepping away from a busy conference to share a meal with us! Walking alongside schools who trust us to steward their mission through design is a gift we never take for granted.

What if every student walked into school knowing they were made to belong?

For the second year in a row, our team and some of our valued clients shared a table at All Belong's Circle of Friends Dinner. It's an evening that celebrates inclusive education and stands in the gap for students with disabilities in Christ-centered schools across the country.

The puzzle wall was our favorite moment of the night. Each piece was decorated by a student, and each one carries different strengths and different needs. The picture isn't complete until every piece is in place. Everyone is different; everybody belongs.

AMDG and All Belong serve many of the same Christ-centered schools nationwide. We see firsthand how intentional inclusion shapes a school's culture, and how thoughtfully designed spaces can help every student see their God-given place in the body of Christ.

We'll continue that conversation on Thursday, October 15 at the Great Lakes Unity Conference, where we'll present alongside All Belong: Imago Dei: The Importance of Place in Learning for Students of ALL Abilities

Thank you to Becky Tubergen, Betsy Winkle, Tim Paauw and the whole All Belong team for an inspiring evening that raised $389,840 to help more students understand the vital role they play in the body of Christ. And to the schools that choose intentional inclusion every day: thank you for living, acting and teaching in a way where belonging is the norm.

Congratulations, DeMotte Christian Schools!

On September 18, the DMCS community dedicated the site of its new high school in prayer, then celebrated over ice cream with the families and friends who helped make this day possible.

Through its "Growing Forward" campaign, DMCS is making room for more families seeking Christ-centered education.

We're deeply grateful to the DMCS board, administration, and Design Committee for their leadership and trust; to the construction partner, Hamstra Builders; and to our project design team, whose gifts and talents serve this mission.

Our leadership team stepped out of the studio for the CBRT - The Business Round Table Grand Rapids Leadership Breakfast.

The time away was an investment in our team's growth and a chance to learn and reflect on the "7 Laws of a Great Business" alongside other local leaders.

We were grateful to hear from Jim Bush, CEO & Visionary of Weather Shield Roofing Systems. AMDG provided interior design services for their Life Center building, and we've come to trust him as a seasoned resource.

Jim's formula stuck with us: integrity of heart, guided by skillfulness, creates the trust and stewardship at the foundation of great leadership.

That same posture, accountability, continuous improvement, and a healthy culture is one we strive toward in our own work every day.

Thank you, Jim and the CBRT team, for a morning well spent.

Last Thursday, we celebrated a true milestone for Hope College, the city of Holland, and the project team behind the new Economics and Business Building.

Remarks at the Topping Out ceremony celebrated the safety, quality, and excellence behind the work so far, and the team's commitment to carrying this forward. A pine branch was hoisted alongside the final beam representing a tradition carried across cultures to bring good fortune to a new building.

At 74,000 square feet, the building will house Hope's largest academic department, serving more than 30% of the college's students. In his blessing over the building, President Scogin captured what the space will mean for campus: "Future students will be formed, equipped, and sent out to be ambassadors of hope."

We are deeply grateful to Hope College, design partner LMN Architects, construction manager Owen-Ames-Kimball, structural engineer JDH Engineering, steel fabricator Builders Iron, and all who have helped reach this project milestone.

This summer, growth showed up in many forms at once.

We're grateful, as always, for the clients and project partners who make our work meaningful, and for the team members whose gifts and talents continue to shape our firm.

This issue of Gratitude + Growth is full of moments we're proud of, our annual family picnic, new teammates joining the studio, mentorship happening on the job site, and a few important project milestones along the way.

No career takes shape through one person alone.

Brendan Hutchings, Architectural Designer, was drawn to AMDG by the passionate people and the range of project types - each one a chance to see architecture from a different angle.

What Brendan says he enjoys most about AMDG is that knowledge is shared freely. A team member will stop what they're doing to work through a design problem or show a clearer way to communicate with a client. That shows up in structured ways too, like the ARE study groups that keep team members progressing toward licensure.

"In my three years at AMDG, I’ve grown tremendously. I’m constantly improving my architectural skills while also learning things I didn’t know I needed to learn when I started. There is a genuine desire to see each other grow, and people aren't selfish with their knowledge or experience." - Brendan Hutchings

If that's the kind of studio you want to grow in, we'd love to meet you.

We're hiring a Senior Project Architect to lead alongside people like Brendan.
