Heading back to Ferris State University for his senior year in just a few weeks, Patrick Jones reflects on another summer of growth with Rockford. Assigned to the Meijer Kentwood project, Patrick chose to return because of Rockford's well-structured internship program and the opportunities it provides to learn from experienced professionals.

Throughout his time onsite, Patrick gained firsthand experience that brought classroom concepts to life and deepened his understanding of the construction industry. By working alongside experienced team members, Patrick continued to build his skills, expand his industry knowledge and develop the confidence needed as he prepares for this school year and the next step in his construction career.

Project Update! Construction and exhibit installation continue to make great progress at the Ferris State University Jim Crow Museum as preparations ramp up for its grand opening on September 30 and October 1.

Expanding from a collection of 6,000 artifacts in its previous location, the new facility will have the capacity to house approximately 30,000 pieces. The thoughtfully designed space features seminar rooms, exhibit galleries, artifact storage, intake cold storage, an atrium and more. Every area and design element has been carefully curated to help tell the story of the Jim Crow era in America and create meaningful educational experiences for visitors.

Back for a second-year internship, Carlos Soto-Castillo is excited to gain a new perspective by working on a different project while continuing to expand his knowledge of construction and strengthen his communication skills with contractors in the field. This year, he is onsite at Northview Public Schools' East Oakview Elementary School project, where he is gaining valuable hands-on experience.

A student at Grand Rapids Community College, Carlos returned to Rockford after his internship last summer helped him connect classroom concepts to real-world construction projects. This summer, he is building on that experience by taking on new responsibilities, broadening his field experience and continuing to develop skills for a future career in the construction industry.

Project update: Exciting things are taking shape at Grand Rapids University Prep Academy!

We joined Grand Rapids Public Schools, the community and supporters to celebrate the groundbreaking of UPrep's new 10,100 sq. ft. Learning & Wellness Center yesterday. The $7.4 million expansion will enhance the student experience with thoughtfully designed spaces that foster growth, well-being and achievement.

The spaces we build today help shape the leaders of tomorrow. We're proud to partner on a project that invests in students' potential, supports their well-being and creates new opportunities to learn, grow and thrive. Together, we're helping build a stronger future for Grand Rapids and its students.

Our Equipment team had a great time at the Grand Rapids Downtown Market yesterday for the Meet the Machines event. Kids and families had the chance to get an up-close look at one of our cranes, climb into the cab, explore the controls and experience firsthand the equipment that helps build and strengthen our communities.

Events like this are an opportunity to connect with our community, share the pride we take in our work and inspire the next generation of builders and operators.

The construction industry is always evolving, and that’s one of the reasons intern Amber Sacco loves being part of it. A junior at Michigan State University, Amber is spending her summer on the Amway Stadium jobsite, where she is gaining hands-on experience and seeing firsthand how large-scale projects come together.

Drawn to construction by the variety of work and the opportunity to keep learning, Amber enjoys that no two days are the same. She is especially passionate about projects that make a positive impact on the community and is excited to learn more about the role of a project engineer. Through her internship, Amber is building valuable real-world experience while contributing to a project that will bring people together for years to come.
