St. Pius X Wins an Excellence in Construction Award 🏆

Congratulations to Project Manager David Paquet and Superintendent Mike Bilski! The St. Pius X Catholic Parish sanctuary renovation has earned an Associated Builders and Contractors Excellence in Construction Award for Renovation, $1 to $3 Million.

Wolverine partnered with St. Pius X Parish to transform its existing sanctuary and chapel into a renewed space for worship. The fast-paced, 30,000-square-foot renovation added a larger altar, a new choir area and sacristy, and better flow throughout the sanctuary.

"It was an honor to win an EIC award for the St. Pius X project. It recognizes the quality of craftsmanship that a lot of very talented people were able to accomplish in a short amount of time. As a parishioner of St. Pius X, I am grateful to the many individuals who made it happen and completely transformed the church that I get to call home."
-David Paquet, Project Manager

This recognition celebrates the craftsmanship, collaboration and hard work it took to bring the parish's vision to life. Thank you to St. Pius X Parish for trusting us with a space that means so much to its community.

Not a finish line. It’s just the beginning.

Since launching our brand refresh, we’ve been sharing what makes Wolverine Built for What’s Next.

From the projects shaping our communities to the people who bring them to life and the partnerships that have defined us since 1939, we’ve celebrated the foundation behind our new name, new look, and continued commitment to building what’s next.

To our employees, clients, trade partners, and community partners, thank you for being part of our story.

More than 85 years of building, and we’re just getting started.

We’re Wolverine Construction. We’re Built for What’s Next.

Built for What’s Next 🥂

This week, we brought together the people who have helped shape Wolverine’s story to celebrate how far we’ve come and the exciting future ahead.

Curt Mulder, CEO, kicked off the event by reflecting on our history dating back to 1939 and recognizing the employees, clients, trade partners, and community partners who have helped build Wolverine into what it is today. He also shared the meaning behind our Built for What’s Next campaign and our refreshed brand, before introducing Nolan Spencer, who shared his excitement for his new role as President and his vision for the road ahead.

We were honored to hear from two partners who know us best. Scott Lewis of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids spoke to what makes a strong construction and community partner, and Jon Ippel of Amplify GR shared how our work together is making an impact across the city.

We closed the event with a toast to our people, our partnerships, and everything still to come. Cue the confetti. 🎉

Here's to the next chapter of Wolverine Construction. Here’s to what’s next.

Already permitted for wood and under way, The Vista at Brighton switched to cold-formed steel post-design. With DTN Management, Intellisteel and FRAMECAD, our team kept framing on schedule and brought the framing bid in $5/sq ft below the original wood design.

"The collaboration and willingness to change course provided cost benefit to the project while also creating meaningful efficiencies in the framing schedule." Kurtis Fritz, VP of Construction | Multi-Unit

At Wolverine, interns don't watch from the sidelines. They're in the meetings, on the jobsites, and part of the decisions that move projects forward.

Dylan Wildfong, a construction management student at Ferris State University, spent his summer working across our multifamily projects, including Element Hotel in Muskegon, Flats on Bridge in Elk Rapids, and Flats at Carriage Commons in Traverse City.

On Flats on Bridge, he jumped into preconstruction and sat down with subcontractors. On Element Hotel, he saw how our team works through real challenges in real time. His advice to future interns? Raise your hand. Ask to write the RFI. Ask to sit in on the OAC meeting. Every ask opens a door.

That's the kind of initiative we build careers around. 🧡
Thank you, Dylan, for a great summer. We can’t wait to have you back next summer!

Some of the best conversations happen with boots on the slab. 🥾

Our CEO and Owner Curt Mulder and President Nolan Spencer walked Amplify GR's development, Boston Square, with Chris and Eric, the team leading the work in the field. Steel is up, walls are framed, and the building is starting to show what it will be for the people who will call it home.

Walks like this are how we stay close to the work. Leadership sees the progress firsthand, hears directly from the people building it, and makes sure every detail is lined up for what comes next. 🏗️ Amplify GR

Waldo Stadium has been home to Western Michigan football since 1939. This summer, the work moved inside. 👇

At the Bill Brown Alumni Football Center, our team rebuilt the spaces where Bronco athletes train, recover, and prepare: the player portal, training room, locker room, strength and conditioning area, and a new nutrition zone. The football calendar set the timeline. Everything had to be finished before the team returned from preseason camp, with the season starting right after.

The facility was ready when the athletes returned. For Head Football Athletic Trainer Kyle Schiller, the result is capacity. More athletes treated each day, repeated across a four-month season, makes a significant difference by the end of the year.

Waldo has been renovated many times over its history. We're proud to be part of its latest chapter and grateful to Western Michigan University Athletics for their trust in Wolverine! 💪

Work in the OR: how Wolverine operates. 🏥

Right now, our team is working in a surgical area at University of Michigan Health Sparrow in Lansing, working around live operating rooms in an active hospital environment. There’s zero room for dust or disruption. Every surface gets sealed and every step is carefully controlled because these spaces have to stay surgically clean.

One of the biggest challenges? Creating and maintaining negative air in the lower level while construction is underway. Our team modified the existing HVAC system to help continuously control and remove construction dust, keeping the work area contained while the hospital continues operating around us.

And the controls don’t stop there. Full PPE is required throughout the work — coveralls, hairnets, shoe covers, and more. No exceptions. 🧰

It’s a different kind of jobsite, with a different level of planning, coordination and attention to detail.

Built for What's Next.
