Thrifting is smart. Bringing home bed bugs isn't. One of the biggest misconceptions is that second-hand clothing is safe to wear as soon as you get home. While many pre-loved finds are perfectly fine, bed bugs and their eggs can hitch a ride on clothing, fabric, and other soft items.

Before adding thrifted pieces to your closet:
✔️ Keep them sealed in a plastic bag until you're ready to wash them.
✔️ Dry them on the highest heat setting the fabric can safely handle to help eliminate any unwanted hitchhikers.
✔️ Inspect items carefully before bringing them into your home.
A few extra minutes of prevention can save you from weeks (or even months) of dealing with an infestation.
