Harvest Before the Freeze 🥶
Spent a couple hours today with all my girls harvesting the final goodies from garden! Amazed at the success of the and the Sweet potatoes didn’t get to stay in long enough to really produce but when my girl wants to help in the garden I look for as many things to do even if it’s not quite time!
Thankful for this space and excited for my winter crop to start! Happy growing Friends!

Garden Update! Wow! Came home from Costa Rica to a thriving garden!!! Still no pests and lots to harvest! It’s amazing what irrigation and healthy soil can do when I’m not even around! Thanks to my family for watching it while I was gone!

Had an incredible week in Alajuela, Costa Rica! The beauty is nothing like Texas!!! The first pic is what I always take back with me! Be happy collecting moments not things! From feeding the homeless to working with kids in very poor communities to seeing amazing women serving their community Every. Single. Day

My love for growing food only grows more and more when I visit this place. We live in a society of excess but with an inability to know how to meet our own needs! This place can survive without their governments help! Everyone grows their own good and shares with their neighbors. I know this experience will change my views and values and further make me focused to help others learn how to grow their own food!
Excited to be back in my garden tomorrow morning…we’ll see how it held up 🌻

After the pandemic I figured it was time to save seeds as much as I could. Here are some seeds I removed from a couple of dried lettuce plants that I just put on a shelf and forgot about for a couple months. We were sitting together one evening as a family so I pulled them out and pulled seeds while we had some family time.
It’s easy to think we all have endless time to garden but I really just squeeze it in when I can. I don’t spend hours gardening because that’s just not feasible in this season. But I do choose to be mindful of some time 10-20 minutes that I might have to do something. Every step paves the way for a harvest!

Help ID Needed! Has anyone ever seen one of these? It’s huge, at least 1” long. Looks like a spider/leaf footed bug! It took a bee from the sunflower!

*SEED SAVING* Something that is so simple, but time consuming, yet necessary. As our world continues to change sometimes it’s necessary to adapt! And with the struggles to buy necessary items it’s made me aware of the value that this practice can bring. I don’t save all seeds and I don’t homestead 100% of what we eat but I do value taking small steps to ensure my families access to healthy food.
Save some seeds. Start small.
