Portable generators cost less UPFRONT. Whole-home generators cost less LONG-TERM.

Portables need fuel runs and manual setup. Whole-home kicks on automatically and powers everything. The value is in the peace of mind. Don't be like Sandra!

Did you know...on this date in 1984, the first Macintosh personal computer was introduced by Steve Jobs at the Apple annual shareholder's meeting. Weighing in at a dainty 17-lbs., it also came with a word processing program, graphics package, and a mouse. Who knew that all these years later Apple would be such a dominating force in the IT world!

This week we had a special team breakfast in honor or one of our leaders, Tom Hedlund, who is retiring today after a decades long career in the plumbing industry. Tom began working part time for the family company at Hedlund Plumbing the summer between 6th & 7th grade (1978 for those keeping score at home) and then full time upon graduating from Michigan State University in June of 1990. Tom has special words of 'Thanks' and gratitude to all current and past employees of Hedlund Plumbing & Service Professor, as well as the tens of thousands of customers he was able to talk to & help along the way. What a huge chapter that is being closed, and he is greatly looking forward to starting the next one with his beloved bride of 33 years, Denise. ❤

Well now...starting tonight for a couple days the temperature will be dropping like a rock. Combined with some wind this is the perfect storm for frozen water lines. Here are some key things to consider BEFORE the lines actually freeze:
1. Avoid lowering the thermostat in the house. The lower it goes to try and save money will also drop the temperature in areas where the heat doesn't go anyway.
2. For sinks that are positioned on an outside wall, keep the cabinet doors open so house airflow can keep those tighter areas warm.
3. If you have particular faucets that have frozen in the past, keep the faucet running at just a trickle, which will usually prevent a frozen pipe.
4. For tight areas like crawl spaces, having a fan running to circulate the air is usually enough to prevent lines from freezing.
5. Space heaters can also be used in some areas but always remember to use caution, and make sure the circuit the heater is plugged into does not get overloaded.
Be safe in these bitter temperatures, and always remember we're just a phone call away if you do run into split pipes or leak situations due to the extreme cold!

Space heaters are always a leading cause of house fires throughout the winter. They can be placed too close to combustible materials as well as overload electrical circuits. Our PSA for today is to be very careful of those units for long term use, and if you do have a situation where a space heater is needed for an extended period of time, have one of our licensed electricians out to inspect the circuit the heater is plugged into. Peace of mind is so important in these cases, and we're happy to help out in any way we can!
