Fiber builds do not just connect homes and businesses.

They connect schools, classrooms, teachers, and students.

MARK Construction is partnering with Clearnetworx to help bring fiber across Mesa County to District 51 schools.

For this route, that means building through busy parts of Grand Junction while working around traffic, hospital access, and tight timelines.

It is not the easiest place to work.

But it is the kind of project that matters long after the cones are picked up.

Good communication keeps a bore moving.

On this project in the Mountain View subdivision in Montrose, the crew stayed in sync from the drill to the foreman.

The operator needs clear direction.
The foreman needs to know where the drill head is.
The crew needs to stay aligned as the work moves forward.

It’s a simple part of the job, but it matters.

Good coordination helps keep the work moving safely and efficiently.

Some projects are less about what you see and more about what the crew is working around.

This route helps bring fiber across Mesa County to District 51 schools.

But getting there means building through some of the busiest streets in Grand Junction.

That’s why crews were out at night on 7th and Patterson.

Less traffic.
Safer work zones.
Open access near the hospital.
Less disruption during the day.

It’s not always glamorous, but it’s the kind of planning that keeps projects moving.

Today, we pause for more than a long weekend.

We remember the men and women who gave everything so the rest of us could live free.

Their courage, sacrifice, and service will never be forgotten.

Some people golf.

Some people fish.

Some people make underground infrastructure their entire personality.

Could be worse.

“Just holding a paddle” until traffic starts flying by your crew at 45 mph.

Traffic control is one of the most important parts of any jobsite, and when it’s done right, most people never even think about it.

That’s the point.

Appreciate the crews at Ultra Traffic Management LLC helping keep our guys and the public safe every day out in the field.

Most people never see this part.

In some areas, crews are working around fiber, gas, electric, water, sewer, and communications lines all within the same corridor underground.

That’s why utility verification, potholing, and planning matter before drilling even begins.

A lot is happening below the surface long before a bore path is cleared.

The Rockies don’t give you much room for error.

Narrow corridors. Steep terrain. Traffic moving a few feet away while crews work along the canyon wall.

This is the kind of environment where experience matters.

Reputation isn’t built through one project.

It’s built through consistency.

Showing up.
Communicating.
Doing quality work.
Leaving the site right.

That’s how long-term relationships are built in this industry.

Some jobs are straightforward.

Others fight you every step of the way.

Rocky terrain. Tight access. Weather changes. Unpredictable ground conditions.

That’s the reality of working across Western Colorado.

And over time, those conditions build crews that know how to adapt, problem solve, and keep moving forward safely.
