We always put safety first, which is why we strictly follow Dig Safely / 811 laws to get line locates before bringing out the heavy machinery. By law, utility companies are required to locate underground lines within 3 business days.
We gave National Fuel 5 full days to locate lines for our upcoming job. After waiting, we’ve already had to delay our work by a day—and now we’re told they still might not even be out tomorrow.
Here’s the frustrating reality: if an underground line ever gets hit, emergency crews can arrive at a job site within an hour. But when an independent small business tries to do everything by the book and requests a locate well in advance, we end up losing days of work and income that we can never recover.
How would National Fuel like it if they were told to take multiple days off without pay simply because someone else "didn't have time" for them?
