Which aggregate do I actually need? πŸ€” We get this one a lot - here's the quick breakdown:

Road Gravel - The workhorse. Great as a driveway base or under aggregate for drainage projects.

22A Dolomite - A finer, well-compacting stone. Ideal driveway topper or sub-base for patios, sheds, and walkways.

17A Dolomite - Larger stone, better drainage - often used in French drains or areas with heavier water flow.

Crushed Concrete / Recycled Asphalt - Budget-friendly, durable options for driveways and base layers. Great eco-conscious pick too.

3/8" Pea Stone - Smooth, decorative, and functional - walkways, fire pits, drainage beds.

6A Washed Stone - Clean drainage stone, often used around downspouts or in French drains.

Before you dig in, the base matters as much as the ring. A solid aggregate base keeps your fire pit level, improves drainage so it doesn't turn into a mud pit after rain, and helps prevent heat damage to the ground underneath.

For DIY fire pits, we recommend:
πŸͺ¨ Road Gravel - budget-friendly base layer, compacts well
πŸͺ¨ 22A Dolomite - a step up, tighter compaction, great for a stable sub-base
πŸͺ¨ 3/8" Pea Stone - a clean, decorative top layer inside the ring itself (helps with drainage and looks sharp)

Pick up what you need or have it delivered right to the yard - either way, you'll be ready for cool nights around the fire.
