The #1 contractor question we receive is “shiny side up or down”?

Solarhide is installed most frequently with the shiny aluminum facing downward towards the deck as it naturally comes off the roll. This is the method for asphalt shingles, metal, synthetic profiles, etc. The textured printed surface provides excellent walkability for direct to deck installs.

However, it’s even more efficient if you pair Solarhide with an elevated batten system for products like tile, slate, and some metals. The airspace the battens provide allows Solarhide to perform as a true radiant barrier, so we flip the aluminum upward in those installs. ☀️

Well, does it get cold? What about wet? Are wind and fire a concern?

Solarhide is NOT for high temps alone. It reduces heat transfer in AND out. This means keeping you cozy in winter and reducing ice damming. It’s an excellent water barrier for those on the coast. It also achieves a Class A Fire rating with synthetic profiles, slate, clay and concrete tile, and shingles. If you’ve got a sloped roof, Solarhide is for you.
