As the old additions at the back of the building are removed, it is easier to see the changes that were made over the last 130 years. Original windows and doors hidden within the building are shown in this picture, which captures the various types of trim, colors, and materials that were used starting with construction in 1897.

In this photo, on the second floor level, you can see the three eras represented - in the middle is the original window detailing from the early days of the Herald House, before the additions were put on the back. On the left is what the building looked like after the additions were put on - note the plainer windows and lack of fancy trim. On the right you can see the red siding that was post 1972 when the building became the TI Inn.

We are very grateful for the work of Aubertine and Currier Architects, Engineers & Land Surveyors, PLLC and Con Tech Building Systems, Inc., and for the passion that they are bringing to this project. As one example, they are working to preserve some of this original trim work that has been covered for many years – we did not know it was there when we started, and so it wasn’t part of the plan. They are also adjusting to maintain the construction schedule despite challenges that include higher than expected amounts of lead paint and other surprises. Today Con Tech helped a neighbor take the metal fire escape so that it could be put to good use rather than just scrapped. Thank you to the A&C and Con Tech teams for all that you are doing!

🏗️ Project Completion Update | Gouverneur Middle School Phase 1 – Athletic Facilities 🐾

We’re proud to share the completion of Phase 1 of the Gouverneur Central School Athletic Facilities Complex!

Con Tech Building Systems served as the General Contractor for this project, constructing two new athletic support buildings designed to serve student-athletes, coaches, spectators, and the Gouverneur community for years to come.

The new facilities include:
• JV/Varsity Football Locker Room
• Two Team Locker Rooms
• Coaches’ Support Areas
• Showers & Restrooms
• Public Concession Stand
• Ticket Booth
• Public Spectator Restrooms
• Storage & Support Areas
• ADA-Compliant Accessibility Features

The project also included the installation of the new Wildcat Stadium entrance sign, creating a standout gateway to welcome athletes, students, families, and fans on game day. 🐾

Built primarily with load-bearing CMU masonry and structural steel roof joists, these facilities will support football, soccer, softball, track & field, and other athletic programs throughout the district.

We’re grateful to Gouverneur Central School District, our subcontractors, suppliers, and everyone on the Con Tech team who helped bring Phase 1 across the finish line. It’s rewarding to complete a project right here in our local community that will be enjoyed for many years to come.

⛳ A Great Day on the Course!

The Con Tech team had a great time hitting the course for the Northern New York Builders Exchange Golf Tournament!

It’s always a good time getting together outside of work, enjoying some friendly competition, and spending the day with others from the construction industry throughout Northern New York.

A big thank you to the NNYBE for putting on another great event. We’re always happy to get out and support organizations that bring our local construction community together.
