A clogged sink proved more problematic than initially apparent. The 1 3/4" copper drain line was severely clogged with debris and corroded due to improper fittings and a subpar repair. The property owners requested that we remove the old line and install a new one from the existing 2" cast stack. Upon cutting back the stack, we found the remainder of the stack to be completely plugged, necessitating the use of a drain snake to clear the obstruction. We ensured proper pipe pitch and installed new piping under the sink. During inspection of the original setup, we discovered that the sink lacked adequate ventilation; consequently, we added a vent, which successfully resolved the flow issues.

Recently, while the property owner was away, Eversource inadvertently terminated power to the incorrect residence, prompting tenant complaints. Upon receiving notification of the issue, our team promptly assessed the situation and discovered over a foot of standing water in the basement, coupled with a malfunctioning heating unit. We swiftly implemented measures to mitigate further damages, deploying sump pumps and utilizing our service truck's onboard power station to restore power to the furnace, thereby returning heat and hot water to the building. This proactive approach allowed us to minimize potential losses while Eversource worked to rectify the power outage. By handling the situation professionally, we potentially saved the property owner thousands of dollars in repairs.
