Our biggest asset doesn’t run on diesel.

Many members of the Woods Excavating team have been with us for 5, 10, and even more years.

They’ve built careers in excavation, site work, and aggregate production while helping grow this company into a name recognized throughout Southern Maine.

In this video, our team shares what it’s like to work at Woods, the camaraderie that comes from working side by side, and what it means to contribute to something bigger than any one person.

Every project takes a team working toward the same goal, and we’re proud of the people who show up every day and make what we do possible.

Built by Mainers, for Mainers. 🚜

One of our notable projects of the 2026 season was completing the earthwork for the new Tractor Supply in East Waterboro, Maine, which celebrates its grand opening on October 24th.

We’re proud to play a role in building the infrastructure that supports our growing communities. Projects like this wouldn’t be possible without our dedicated crew working together to get the job done.

Throwback to one of our favorite community events this summer! 🚧

We participated in the Touch-a-Truck event at Sebago Days, giving kids and families the chance to get up close with some of our fleet.

We’re proud to support events like these that introduce the next generation to the skilled trades and the opportunities that come with a career built on hard work, continuous learning, and seeing the results of what you’ve helped build.

We’re grateful for the chance to give back to our community and do our part to keep the trades alive and well here in Maine.

Our story didn’t start on paper. It started in the dirt.

In this video, owner Chris Woods reflects on where it all started, his lifelong passion for this work, and how a childhood dream grew into a trusted site work, utilities, and aggregate supplier serving Southern Maine.

Through decades of growth, one thing has remained constant: a commitment to the work, the people we serve, and the incredible team that makes it all possible.

We’re proud of how far Woods Excavating has come and even more excited about where we’re headed next.

Quality starts at the source.

Expanding into aggregate production was an important milestone in the growth of Woods Excavating.

Today, our pits allow us to produce our own aggregates, giving our crews greater control over material quality, availability, and project schedules.

Here’s a bird’s-eye view of our Baxter Pit, where we crush, screen, and process the materials that help build Southern Maine.

A decades-long vision, finally brought to life.

We’re proud to have partnered with Portland Rugby Club to help turn their dream of a dedicated rugby field into a reality, culminating in their first opening event last month.

Bringing this project to life meant navigating complex terrain, unexpected challenges, and finding creative solutions along the way. Seeing the field finally filled with players and the rugby community made all of that work worth it.

Projects like this are about more than moving earth. They’re about helping build spaces that bring people together, and we’re grateful Portland Rugby Club trusted Woods Excavating to be part of their story.

Building Maine means more than building the infrastructure our communities depend on. It means investing in the people and communities that make our state a great place to live, work, and raise the next generation.

Rob, KJ, and Darrin were proud to represent Woods Excavating at the MPDA Annual Trucking for Kids Convoy, supporting Camp Sunshine and Maine Summer Camps Camp Postcard.

Each year, drivers from across Maine come together to collect donations leading up to the convoy, raising funds for these incredible camps and the children and families they serve.

At Woods Excavating, we’re proud to be part of an industry that shows up for Maine. Whether we’re on a jobsite, supporting our local communities, or helping inspire the next generation to keep Maine’s trades strong, we believe building Maine starts with investing in its people. 🚜
