A pothole isn't always just a pothole.
In Arizona, monsoon water intrusion, UV oxidation, and heavy traffic stress work together to weaken pavement from the inside out. When potholes keep coming back, or when you notice alligator cracking, soft spots, or pooling water nearby, the surface isn't the real problem—the subgrade is. Patching the top without addressing the base is a temporary fix at best.
Knowing the difference is what keeps repair costs from becoming replacement costs.
