But, here we are at the end of January already. Now is the time for your to start thinking about your Spring projects. It will take about 6 weeks to get everything figured out. But what are the three biggest factors to consider when planning a custom home addition?

We recommend you first strongly lay out your overall objective for the addition, what do you want to achieve for yourself and your family?

Then consider the overall project plan; what permits, permissions, and inspections will need to take place; what impact will the layout have to property lines, existing architecture, and what is your desired timeline?

Finally, who is your contractor? Do they have the proper licensing and insurance, are they experienced to accurately estimate the budget, manage the project start to finish, and achieve the desired design?

According to HGTV the national average to remodel a kitchen is $80k and the length of a kitchen remodel can be 4-5 months, depending on the scope of the project.
