Happy Memorial Day from O’Brien Tree Care, LLC! Hope you all are having a great holiday weekend with your friends and family. 🇺🇸

My friend Charlie was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam flying Hueys, he also flew C-130s. He was a gifted pilot and saved many lives. He told me how he taught other pilots how to approach the airport in De Nang without getting shot up. I used to take Charlie out to lunch every Memorial Day when he was still alive. Today I’d like to thank ‘Crazy Charlie’ and all those boys like him that served for our nation. 🇺🇸

This is a photo from my first year in business. I was so broke I was living out of the back of my Subaru Loyale and eating ramen. I charged a ridiculously low price of $950 to remove this maple in Golden. I had to buy a porta-wrap, a rigging rope and slings as well as a stihl 660…I was racing the check. I needed to get this job done and get the money into the bank before the check cashed. I had no exposure to the outside tree care industry so I pretty much learned everything from reading books and magazines. I look at this tree now and would’ve removed it a different way and of course charged more. I remember getting stung by bees and how when I made a large cut with the 660 applause erupted, I looked to the east and saw the entire concrete wall at the GCB was lined with patrons of the brewery who were all watching me. I remember their beer looked cold and delicious but I couldn’t stop working. This was the day I met Derek and my friends at the Golden City Brewery. Derek approached me and asked if I was willing to trade firewood for beer. I was up to my neck in firewood and had to move this entire tree with a rented U-Haul trailer pulled by my Subaru so of course I agreed. 17 years later I’m still hustling and doing this tree thing.

Picked my son up from school on my Sur Ron today and we went on an adventure ride around town and up lookout mountain. On our way back down I took him by today’s job site to show him how big the tree was. These large logs became a playground as soon as he got off the bike.

removing a scummy dead Siberian Elm tree in Golden. Dead Siberian Elm trees are some of the worst tree removals as the limbs turn into hooks when they die and create a massive dust ball hen you blow ‘em through the chipper.

Round two! We were back at the Fossil Trace Golf Course today to remove the cottonwood spar in some quite slick conditions. It was absolutely beautiful and we managed to get all the wood loaded up and hauled away. 💪🏻
