Yesterday we started moving the last of our equipment out of our Golden Valley shop.
For over a year, we’ve been waiting for someone to buy this place. So you’d think finally selling it would feel like nothing but relief.
But honestly… it’s a little heartbreaking.
This shop taught us that we could do it.
We didn’t come from money. We didn’t have someone handing us a business, a building, or a pile of cash to get started. We were just two ordinary people with a dream that was probably bigger than what we had any business dreaming at the time. 😂
I remember wondering how in the hell we were ever going to qualify for a loan to buy a place like this. And then somehow, we did.
We worked our asses off here. We learned here. We screwed things up here. We figured things out here. We built jobs we were incredibly proud of here. And this shop in a tiny North Dakota town proved to us that we were capable of building something of our own.
Eventually, we outgrew what this location could give us. There simply aren’t enough people or opportunities in a town this small to build the business we know Black Ridge can become. So we packed up most of our operation and took a chance on Minot.
Now this chapter is officially coming to an end.
We’re excited. We’re relieved. We’re ready for bigger opportunities and bigger things.
But loading the equipment yesterday hurt a little more than I expected.
Because sometimes moving forward means saying goodbye to the place that taught you that you were capable of getting there in the first place.
Goodbye, Golden Valley. 🖤
On to the next chapter for Black Ridge Welding.
We are fully operational in Minot now!! We are hopeful for the future!
