Happy Makeover Monday!
Whoever says ‘we will make plans along the way’ is NOT a professional. The design drives the project. In this case a hair salon planned a move to a new location and tasked me with the buildout. Both owners knew how they wanted the salon to function. Could I make sure their ideas were part of the project? So we brainstormed!

Both owners wanted freestanding hair wash stations. So we needed plumbing to run exactly where it was needed. Planned out in the initial design, and made the plan work. We had to run all plumbing to make sure the hair wash stations worked in the space. Prior to the floors going in we had to position the stations. Lighting had to be placed above the stations which gave great lighting to the spaces. Cabinets then were located to coordinate with the products needed for the area. It all came together because of planning from the start. Which is such a great thing with clients who trust me!!

This week’s makeover!
My job - besides designing spaces - is to organize space - both physically and even some times mentally. A closet is probably the most intimate space I work on with clients. This was a project that got put on the back burner while I was tasked to upgrade the ground floor of their home. Once the ground floor upgrades came to fruition the ‘closet project’ came up again!
The walk-in closet was spacious but was full and overflowing. My clients built their home over 30 years ago and can’t remember spending ANY time on the closet layout. Over time more and more clothing, shoes, and accessories moved in. But not much moved out. I did a very thorough analysis of his and her important pieces and came up with a sketch of both areas and the possibilities. Next came interviewing prospective closet companies to get proposals and $$$ amounts. Tailored Living out of Reisterstown won the bid. Their closet solutions gave specified areas to each client’s needs. I worked very closely with them to be able to put specific spaces to specific clothing! The result is that husband AND wife each have space for their own stuff - but organized. There is so much openness where before was stuffed full. Everything has its place!! And no more dead spots!! The new LED light also throws so much more light around the closet.

Happy Makeover Monday!
It’s always fun to peruse a showroom searching for the perfect piece to anchor a new room! In this case my client was moving into a new condo and requested a new bedroom suite. New carpet and paint started the process. Then the layering began. New ceiling fan/light, table, lamps, and floor lamp illuminated the space. New Duette shades that were motorized for convenience gave diffused light and privacy to the windows.
Then I found the perfect bedroom suite in one of my favorite showrooms. I knew if I had this bed made in a darker color it would ground the space and look and feel luxurious. Since the furniture was a darker color I knew this would be perfect!! From my client seeing photos to be approved, to walking into the bedroom completely installed, she was so pleased. She said it felt like she was in a 5 star hotel suite - but it was all hers. This is when my job rocks!!

Happy Makeover Monday!
My clients showed me their master bath two years ago but we had other priority projects. Ground floor and kitchen transformation/paint/carpeting/exterior. Which all became great transformations. Earlier this spring we readdressed the master bath. It was time for my clients to enjoy a project ‘just for them’ to enjoy. I had a strict budget to work with but once I had the plan together I went to work!
All of our specified plumbing list came together within budget and my contractors worked very hard to stay within the guidelines. New lighting was my first priority. Recessed/vanity/vent fan/light combination and shower light really was an important improvement. I specified the same tile for the bathroom floor and shower walls to open up the space and coordinate. The freestanding tub and tub filler fit perfectly under the window but I increased the footprint of the shower which made all the difference! The frameless glass makes the shower look huge. A fixed shower head and handheld also gave options in the shower. Now my clients have a better functioning master bath with increased storage and a much updated look!! And it’s for them to enjoy!!
