Can someone explain this to me?

Recently I saw a breeder post about splash and blue birds with the silver gene. This is the first Iā€™ve heard about it being expressed in bbs. I know black birds can have silver leakage, but I hadnā€™t heard of blues and splashes with any identifiers of being silver based.

So first, how do you know if a colored bird is silver based if they have no leakage? Vs Red or Gold based that they claim (Iā€™m assuming youā€™ll know from gold leakage?)

Is that something you want to balance in your flock, or how do you use it? Is it just for color correcting?

Iā€™ve never heard of a blue bird being labeled silver based so I really want to learn this.

Blue male UFD. Perfect feet. Love his type. One wing is perfect and one wing Iā€™m not sure about. It isnā€™t loose and the joint feels fine. Possible split? But it doesnā€™t look like heā€™s missing primaries. It might end up ok as he grows up but I canā€™t make any promises on that. Youā€™ll need to arrange transport or do local pickup to Southwest Iowa.

I have a couple of fantastic males available, as well as a few 2-3 year old females Iā€™m probably going to retire. Priority dibs for the females will be to someone who will take a male with them. They arenā€™t (closely) related. These will all be BBS.

My lavenders are taking their time to grow! Iā€™m not ready to place any yet. They need another month or so to grow and fill in. If youā€™re looking for one I can put you on a contact list.

Man, this guy is maturing well too. Iā€™m really impressed. Not quite sure if Iā€™ll offer him yet. Iā€™m still watching him šŸ™‚...

Hey everyone, Iā€™m going to be on the hunt for a nice lavender boy, less than two years old. Must have good wings and type. Iā€™ll be looking for a good outcross so Iā€™ll be looking for parentage from different lines than the babies Iā€™m currently growing out (my first Gen lavender breeding).

Iā€™ll be happy to trade a cockerel for a cockerel too šŸ˜ If you want to do an outcross boy trade Iā€™m game. Or Iā€™ll just buy one, totally up to you.

Message me with pics if you have anything. If youā€™re farther than driving distance Iā€™ll arrange transport. I had a close call with Post Office last year and have heard too many horror stories this year, Iā€™m not trusting shipping for lives right now.
