We’re in the process of integrating a poured concrete wall safe room in this barndominium we’re building in Iowa. 🌪️
When you’re building a barndominium, you have the opportunity to incorporate features that provide more than comfort and style — you can build with protection in mind from day one.
🏠 Why incorporate a concrete safe room?
• Built into the structure — Rather than relying on a standalone shelter, the safe room can be incorporated into the floor plan during construction.
• Poured concrete walls — Concrete provides substantial mass and strength compared with typical interior wall construction.
• Protection during severe storms — A properly designed safe room can provide a hardened space for your family to shelter during tornadoes and other extreme wind events.
• Multiple uses — When severe weather isn’t a concern, your safe room can serve as a pantry, storage room, mechanical room, storm shelter, or other functional space.
• Planned from the beginning — Integrating the shelter during the design and construction process allows us to consider its location, access, ventilation, electrical needs, and overall function as part of the home.
The best storm shelter is one you don’t have to think about when the storm arrives.
It’s there, built into your home, ready when you need it.
At Sycamore Buildings, we’re focused on building beautiful, functional, and thoughtfully designed barndominiums — including options that put safety at the forefront.
🌾 Your land. Your home. Your plan. Built by Sycamore.
