Look at this rescue! This countertop has been broken for a few years and the family had it held together with Gorilla Tape. We had discussed the job and I came up with the idea of using a very popular epoxy. It's not a perfect repair, but it looks a hell of a lot better than before.

The first two pics are a before and after. Then I'll show some of the steps.

Older homes don’t always play by modern rules 🔧

This week’s challenge:

Original front door with an extra-thick profile

New handle set ordered (including the extra-wide kit)

Spindle still too short to reach the interior k**b

After checking with manufacturers, the “right” solution meant buying a much more expensive handle set. Instead, we talked through options and found a safe, effective way to modify the existing hardware and make it work—no unnecessary replacement.

That’s problem-solving you only get with hands-on experience, especially in older Essex County homes.

Update to services:

First off I just checked and I have 450+ followers!! Let's see if we can get up to 500.

I find that many times customers only want to discuss options for getting a task done themselves, therefore, I am considering developing an app where customers could set appointments and also where they could come for text consultations. This consultation service would have a small per use fee. I'd love to hear feedback on this idea.

As always, I offer all sorts of small jobs including Painting, some electrical and plumbing, minor random repairs, furniture assembly, and so much more.

Why do we hire a handyman?

Our lives are busy and things become broken. Sometimes we decide to buy new furniture but can't understand IKEA directions. Or perhaps you have a room that needs painting or a broken handrail. And other times you just want to change out an old light fixture.
