Why do we charge a $150 estimation fee?

Because we receive 15-20 requests for quote each day. The vast majority of these requests come from individuals who have no intention of hiring anyone, or they’re shopping for the lowest bid. When we mention the fee, 90 percent of these potential clients go silent, and this is EXACTLY what we want. We want to focus our efforts on that 10 percent who value and appreciate our time, the ones willing to pay that little extra for extreme quality and service. These clients are searching for the absolute best contractor they can find, and we are searching for the absolute best clients we can find.

Most folks rarely only hire us once, we become like a family. That has been our recipe from the beginning. We are growing that family, but slowly and cautiously.

Mr Levi gets a call every week from clients who decided to hire a cheaper bidder. There’s no “fixing” poor craftsmenship. The install of high end luxury products is not the place to save money on labor.

This is shaping up to be a record year for us not only in deck and porch builds but also a record year for call backs from customers who found a cheaper bidder. Unfortunately, We cannot repair an improperly built deck.

Below are some reasons to do your due diligence before signing a contract.

1) Courts will not rule in your favor if you’ve deliberately hired an unlicensed builder (search the company on DPOR)

2) DPOR will not issue a claim from the contractors recovery fund

3) The composite manufacturers will not honor warranties on decks built by uncertified builders. Yes, these products require certifications and training. (search their business on the manufacturer website)

4) Neither the builder’s general liability insurance nor the homeowners insurance will cover poor craftsmanship

We respect every working man/woman in the trades trying to support their families, even low ball chuck in a truck, but an $80/sqft product is not the place to learn the basics of carpentry.

Some work in progress pics of the Saltville hospital refresh, designed by Matt Bundy and Mr Levi. Mr Hylton’s team has been there the last 6 weeks knocking down concrete walls, making a new bathroom with ADA shower, a new kitchen with custom cabinets made by Larry V, plumbing and electrical updates by Charles. Now we are finishing up laying 3800 sqft of Shaw commercial flooring, painting the rooms Carolina Blue, and installing new black base cove. Up next for the commercial team is the Tazwell facility and then the Saltville Pizza Plus building! Big thanks for SWVCHS for all the wonderful work.

Flooring system and slabs going in this week! We are finally getting excited after a few delays.

Finishing up a cute project at Preston Place. The client wanted a colored slab with a shed and gazebo but something a little nicer than prefab. So we framed up a board and batten LP shed with Anderson windows and 30 year certainteed shingles. We closed it in with a wood rail system, Titan balusters and trex wh***ey barrel drink rail. Setting the doors and sealing the slab and this one is in the books.
