VEC, Inc.

VEC, Inc. VEC, Inc. is a construction solutions provider, offering electrical, mechanical, fabrication, civil was founded in 1975 as Valley Electrical Consolidated.

Valley Electrical started as a family-owned business providing
electrical contracting services to the region’s many factories, production lines, steel mills and GMs new Lordstown, Ohio plant. By the mid-1990s, Valley had expanded into new markets, adding diverse capabilities and gaining experience, cultivating expertise and respect as it grew. Rex Ferry purchased the company in 1990. Ferry was bor

n and raised in Leavittsburg, Ohio and entered the electrical trade out of high school. Rex began working for Valley Electrical and moved up the ranks from Foreman to Project Manager. In 2001, VEC Systems Integrator was created to meet the low-voltage and information-technology demands of customers. 2003 saw the acquisition of Evets Electric, one of the largest specialty electrical contractors in the country focusing on the oil and gas industries; this provided Valley increased prominence in electrical contracting across a broader spectrum of construction sectors. In 2010, The J.L. Allen Company was acquired, expanding Valley’s capabilities to include mechanical and civil construction as well as fabrication. Over the next four years, revenues increased as Evets and J.L. Allen performed projects for several large natural gas companies, building relationships with the completion of each project. Evets completed construction of a new fabrication facility in the spring of 2014 in Hubbard, Ohio, offering clients a fabrication facility located in the middle of two major shale plays. In 2014, J.L. Allen was sold. As the construction industry began to change, Rex made the decision to merge Valley Electrical and Evets Electric (now Evets Oil & Gas Construction Services) into one entity, VEC, effective January 1, 2016. The move positions VEC as a total solutions provider to our clients across all industries and all disciplines. The merge also aligns with the company vision to Build for Generations to Come by positioning the company for sustainable growth that will allow VEC to remain in the industry for 40 more years ... and beyond.

Sometimes it isn't a storm that knocks out the power. In this case, it was a semi-truck. VEC was happy to assist West Penn Power yesterday after a truck pulled down power lines in Allegheny County. Our crews were still in the area restoring power after severe weather last weekend and were able to provide assistance. Check out the news article and video from WTAE Pittsburgh! The VEC Storm Team is on the move! Our teams have mobilized and are headed to Michigan to assist with storm response and restoration efforts. With the chance of severe weather forecasted for the next few days, report downed power lines to your local utility or 911 if the line is sparking. Stay 30 - 50 feet away and always assume downed power lines are live.

We’re excited to share that Nick Barbush has been promoted to Vice President of Industrial.

Nick joined VEC in 2013 and played a key role in growing our virtual design and construction capabilities. He later transitioned into a project manager role, where he has successfully led several large industrial projects across a variety of markets.

Nick consistently goes above and beyond to ensure our projects are successful, exceeds client expectations, and is known for being a strong and reliable communicator. He always acts with VEC’s best interests in mind, making him a trusted leader for both our teams and our clients.

Please join us in congratulating Nick on this well-earned achievement.

When we can't get the bucket trucks in, our guys throw on the climbing gear and get to work. We spent our weekend in Western PA getting the power back on after severe weather knocked it out. Job well done to our storm crews for working efficiently and most importantly, safely this weekend!
