With heavy snow and high winds, we are wishing everyone the best through this storm.

We are here to help with any downed or broken trees should you need professional assistance. We want to remind you to always wear proper safety equipment, including chaps, hard hat, ear and eye protection when using chainsaws; and do not touch trees with any part contacting power lines, whether you have power or not.

This large eastern white pine had a rotten base and was showing major signs of decline. We removed it using a zip line for the brush, and negative rigged the wood to prevent damage to the lawn and septic system.

It is a good idea to look for indicators of decline especially on trees near structures or power lines to help mitigate risks and cost of removal. Some indicators can be: cavities or rot pockets, sawdust near the base of the tree, dead branches (particularly in the top of the canopy), pale or yellowing foliage, cracks or splits, and root heaving.

Yesterday's drop zone. We had 2 large maples and a large white ash to remove over fences, houses and sheds. Everything was lowered on ropes to get this job done.

We have seen a wide array of people allowing and promoting unsafe work habits lately. Whether you are a homeowner or professional, one handing a chainsaw and not wearing proper protective equipment are the most common ways people of any experience level get cut with saws. We encourage all chainsaw operators to always wear a chaps, a good pair of boots, eye protection, and hearing protection at a minimum, and always wear a hard hat when felling trees, or working near an area where there is the potential for overhead hazards.

Industry standards, as well as product manufacturers do not suggest use of a saw without chaps, hearing protection, eye protection, or one handed saw use under any situation. The one handed use of a chainsaw is a terminable offense at our company as it opens the door for many other unsafe habits.

We strive to outpace our competitors within the bounds of the industry standards and will not cut corners to get the job done.

This birch was mostly over the house and patio, with a tight drop zone on a hill. Nothing fancy about this takedown, just cut small pieces and chucked them where they needed to go.

Sometimes there aren't any tricks and you just have to muscle the pieces down.

Some pictures from Monday's job on the lake. Sugar maple pruning for house clearance, and a large oak removal. All in tight spots. Thanks for the help Mark! @ Gilmanton Ironworks, New Hampshire

The view from today's job wasn't half bad. Happy to have a break from the heat.
