Why buy a chain sling from Advantage Rigging?

We’re a small, family-run business, and we’ve been building chain slings since 2008.

We build G80 and G100 chain slings to spec based on what the job actually calls for, including chain size, reach, hook style, master link, sling angle, and WLL.

We also offer proof testing with certification after testing.

And one of the biggest things I tell people is this:

Check the tag.

Your sling tag needs to be there, readable, and match the actual assembly you’re using. Grade, size, configuration, WLL, and identification all matter.

There are a lot of chain slings for sale online. Don’t assume they’re all built, tagged, and documented the same way.

Know what you’re buying before you put it to work.

If you’re not sure what you need, call the shop.

Picking a chain sling isn’t just about finding one that will hold the weight.

Start with the lift.

How many pick points do you have? That helps determine whether you’re looking at a single, double, triple, or quad-leg sling.

Then get into the details:

• What does the load weigh, including the rigging?
• What WLL does the exact configuration require?
• What sling angle will you be working at?
• What master link fits your top connection?
• What hooks make sense at the load?

Sling hooks, grab hooks, self-locking hooks, foundry hooks, and swivel self-locking hooks all solve different connection problems. The right answer depends on what you’re actually lifting and how you’re connecting to it.

Angle matters too. On multi-leg lifts, apply the proper angle reduction and use the tagged configuration rating. Don’t guess at capacity.

I’m Steve with Advantage Rigging. We build G80 and G100 chain slings and help customers work through the configuration before they order.

If you’re not sure what you need, call the shop. We’d rather help you figure it out than have you buy the wrong setup.

Lift with confidence.

That edge doesn’t have to look sharp to damage a sling.

Put enough weight on a corner and things change fast.

In this video, Steve walks through a few sling protection options and explains why the protector is only part of the equation. You still need to look at the edge, the radius, the sling itself, and the tag.

A sleeve can help with abrasion and wear, but it should never replace a proper inspection.

Simple rule: protect the sling, then inspect the sling.

More capacity. Less chain to wrestle around.

That’s one reason we’re seeing more heavy haulers move to Grade 100 transport chain.

3/8” Grade 100 gives you an 8,800 lb WLL.

Need something different? We can build them with grab hooks, sling hooks, foundry hooks, and other configurations depending on what you haul.

And yes, we tag them too.

Grade 100 tail chain, 3/8" x 5' with a blue grab hook.

This is the piece that extends a sling, chokes back around an awkward load, or bridges a rigging setup when a straight hook-to-hook connection doesn't quite reach. Because it's Grade 100, it's rated for lifting, not the same thing as a tie-down chain off the truck.

Match it to the rest of your rigging, check the tag, and confirm the WLL for your exact configuration before it goes to work.

Grade 70 binder chain, 3/8" x 10' with slip hooks on both ends.

Built for one job: securing loads during transport. Tie-downs, chain binders, flatbed and trailer work, this is what haulers reach for. It's not rated for overhead lifting, so if something needs to come off the ground on a hook, this isn't the chain for it.

Pair it with a load binder, check the tag before every haul, and keep your transport chain and your lifting chain in two different piles.

Grade 80 single leg chain sling, 9/32" x 5" with sling hooks on both ends.

Built to spec. Tagged before it leaves our shop. No guessing what you're hooking up.

A single leg is where every rigging setup starts, straight vertical lifts, chokers, or the first piece of a custom multi-leg assembly. Check the tag, confirm the WLL for your exact configuration, and get to work.

Need a different length or leg count? We build custom chain sling assemblies in-house.

Five stars, and it wasn't even about the gear this time.

A customer came in for straps, dropped their card on the shop floor on the way out, and Vinny tracked them down to return it. Good reviews on the hardware are great, reviews like this tell you more about how a shop actually runs.

Thanks for the kind words. If someone on our floor has gone out of their way for you, we'd love to hear about it too.
