“SUNDAY’S MY ONLY DAY OFF!” FRANK SAID IT TOO.
After a long week of grinding garage floors, Frank is worn slap out.

He could’ve stayed home, slept in, and told himself, “God knows I’m tired.” Instead, Frank showed up to church. Is he fully awake? Not exactly. Is Natalia going to have to elbow him once or twice during the sermon? Absolutely.

But he showed up.

Church isn’t only for the Sundays when we’re rested, motivated, and have everything together. Sometimes we walk through those doors exhausted from the week and that may be exactly when we need the worship, encouragement, fellowship, and reminder of what really matters.

“Let us not give up meeting together… but encourage one another.” Hebrews 10:25

So if Sunday is your only day off, Frank understands. Come tired. Come half-awake. Just come. And Natalia… keep that elbow ready.

SATURDAY MORNING… FRANK’S GOT NOWHERE TO BE AND ALL DAY TO GET THERE.

Coffee in hand, a little garage time, some old cars to admire, and absolutely no reason to rush.

Sometimes the best Saturdays are the simple ones.

SOMEONE AT CHURCH ANNOYS YOU… SHOULD YOU STILL GO?

Yes. Absolutely. Last Sunday I heard a great sermon about church and worship, and one point really hit home with me: Church is full of imperfect people… because every one of us is imperfect. Someone may annoy you. Someone may disappoint you. Someone may even hurt your feelings. But don’t allow another person’s behavior to control your walk with the Lord.

“Let us not neglect meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing…” Hebrews 10:25

We don’t go to church because everyone there is easy to get along with. We go to worship God, hear His Word, encourage one another, and gather together as the body of Christ. It’s not about me. It’s not about you. It’s about HIM.

You can be annoyed with someone. Just don’t let that annoyance become bitterness. If something is festering in your heart, deal with it. Talk with the person if appropriate. Seek counsel from your pastor, elders, or deacons.

Jesus even emphasized reconciliation before worship:

“First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.” Matthew 5:24

And when it comes to Communion, Scripture tells us to examine ourselves before participating (1 Corinthians 11:28). If there is unresolved anger or conflict weighing heavily on your heart, take reconciliation seriously rather than simply pretending everything is fine. Church is good for us... even when somebody there gets on our nerves. Just don’t let somebody else get between you and your walk with God.
