We extend our heartfelt thanks to Lund Opsahl for referring fi architecture to join the talented and collaborative design team for the Riot Games Remote Broadcast Center (RBC) in Des Moines, Washington. It has been a pleasure working alongside such dedicated professionals. We truly appreciated the camaraderie we developed, from lunch breaks featuring Dick’s Drive-In burgers to celebrating milestones with delicious Heritage Distilling Company, Inc products.
This project, built by Abbott Construction and led by the design team at Henry J Lyons in Dublin, Ireland, has successfully transformed a warehouse space into a state-of-the-art, two-story broadcast center. Expanding the usable interior floor area by 16,230 square feet, the facility now encompasses more than 73,000 square feet, enhancing Riot’s capacity for live esports production and operations for regional and global events.
Riot Games’ RBC, powered by Amazon Web Services, exemplifies their innovative approach to a centralized global broadcast model, originally launched under the codename “Project Stryker.” These strategically placed RBCs not only increase capacity for esports content but also optimize operational costs while maintaining exceptional quality and consistency.
fi architecture served as the “architect of record” in collaboration with Henry J Lyons and a fantastic team of local consultants. Cheers to Allyson Gormley, LPC West, Abbott Construction, BCE Engineers, Tenor, Heath & Associates, RDH Building Science, and all involved for your invaluable contributions to this successful project. Thank you again for your support and trust, and we look forward to future collaborations!
